About the Opportunity
The Marketing department at United Jewish Appeal of Greater Toronto is looking for a talented Writer, Leadership Communications. Reporting to the VP, Communications & Marketing, the successful candidate will serve in the pivotal position of being the lead writer for executive correspondence, supporting UJA's professional leadership in engaging donors and other stakeholders with our critical mission.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Write correspondence, speaking notes, and other communications products that enable UJA's leadership to engage donors and other key stakeholders, with the goal of advancing the organization's development, stewardship, and community outreach efforts
- Manage donor communications with a keen understanding of UJA's mission and purpose
- Develop internal communications from UJA's leadership to update and support UJA's professional staff
- Work collaboratively with a team of writers serving portfolios across the organization, providing mutual support with writing and proofreading as needed
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in communications, journalism, English, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years' relevant work experience in communications and/or writing
- Ability to work off-hours on an occasional basis, including evenings or weekends
- Excellent writing skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- An ability to write quickly, accurately, and concisely
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues
- A proactive, self-starter with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
- Ability to think strategically and critically
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a high level of responsiveness to shifting priorities and needs
- Commitment to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Familiarity with the Toronto Jewish community, Israel, and/or experience in Jewish communal service is considered an asset
- Experience in journalism or political communications considered an asset
* This is a full-time permanent position Union Level 5. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
