Retour sur la derni\u00e8re microtendance en date, celle du \u00ab Gen Z stare \u00bb, qui reproche aux jeunes adultes de ne pas savoir \u00ab comment \u00bb \u00e9couter un interlocuteur.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Commen\u00e7ons par le d\u00e9finir. Selon diff\u00e9rentes sources, ce \u00ab regard du gen Z \u00bb serait \u00ab vide \u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0sans r\u00e9action\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab difficile \u00e0 d\u00e9chiffrer \u00bb de ces jeunes n\u00e9s entre&nbsp;1997 et&nbsp;2012. Des vid\u00e9astes prennent ainsi l&rsquo;exemple de certains jeunes employ\u00e9s du service \u00e0 la client\u00e8le qui resteraient impassibles, alors que, comme client, on s\u2019attendrait \u00e0 un sourire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La tendance a \u00e9merg\u00e9 dans le courant de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, comme on t\u00e9moigne une recherche sur Google Trends. J\u2019ai repens\u00e9 \u00e0 des moments bien pr\u00e9cis : en r\u00e9union, devant un ou une coll\u00e8gue plus jeune. En mentorat, face \u00e0 une mentor\u00e9e qui m\u2019\u00e9coutait\u2026 du moins, je crois. Dans ces moments-l\u00e0, deux r\u00e9flexes me viennent : chercher un signe ext\u00e9rieur que la personne est engag\u00e9e (et parfois m\u2019inqui\u00e9ter si je ne le trouve pas). Me demander si c\u2019est moi qui interpr\u00e8te \u00e7a avec mes propres codes, et que chez elle ou lui\u2026 c\u2019est \u00e7a, \u00e9couter. \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>La consultante en tire le constat suivant :<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Je me rends compte \u00e0 quel point notre lecture du non verbal est culturelle, g\u00e9n\u00e9rationnelle, personnelle. Diff\u00e9rente en pr\u00e9sentiel et en virtuel. En gestion ou en mentorat, le d\u00e9fi est le m\u00eame : savoir nommer nos attentes en mati\u00e8re de communication. \u00catre curieux de l\u2019autre, plut\u00f4t que de conclure trop vite. \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Dans la conversation LinkedIn qui en a d\u00e9coul\u00e9, Yvonne Sesonga, CRHA, a r\u00e9agi dans le m\u00eame sens.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Le non verbal est culturel. Je ne compte pas le nombre de fois o\u00f9, en entrevue, un gestionnaire s&rsquo;est plaint que la personne ne la regardait pas en face, ou qu&rsquo;elle regardait trop. Le hochement de t\u00eate qui ne dit pas la m\u00eame chose dans toutes les cultures, les personnes neurodivergentes qui ont le non verbal dit &lsquo;non standard&rsquo;. On est mieux de poser des questions, de clarifier les ententes&#8230;mais cela demande une volont\u00e9 d&rsquo;explorer ce qui est normal chez l&rsquo;autre. \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Naviguer entre ignorance et malhonn\u00eatet\u00e9 intellectuelle\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De par son expertise en communication non verbale, le consultant et formateur Isarta Manuel Constant a \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9 \u00e0 se prononcer sur le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne. Il a r\u00e9agi avec un brin d\u2019exasp\u00e9ration :<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Quel v\u00e9ritable foutoir ! D&rsquo;abord, les articles en question n&rsquo;ont strictement rien de scientifique. Ce sont de simples impressions, n\u00e9es de discussions, accusant la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration Z avec un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne construit de toute pi\u00e8ce par une poign\u00e9e de personnes ne disposant d&rsquo;aucune donn\u00e9e probante. Ensuite, les auteurs [de ce trend] ne s&rsquo;entendent m\u00eame pas entre eux pour expliquer exactement ce dont il s&rsquo;agit.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sa conclusion est simple : jusqu\u2019\u00e0 preuve du contraire, ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne n\u2019existe pas. Les r\u00e9actions des uns et des autres sont \u00e0 prendre au \u00abcas par cas\u00bb.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Il y a dans ce \u2018trend\u2019 un gros m\u00e9lange de malhonn\u00eatet\u00e9 intellectuelle, de volont\u00e9 de faire des posts viraux, d&rsquo;ignorance et d&rsquo;incompr\u00e9hension.\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ma conclusion personnelle : si l\u2019exercice vise \u00e0 condamner une g\u00e9n\u00e9ration compl\u00e8te, sans doute est-il pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable de passer son tour. Mais si elle devient plut\u00f4t un pr\u00e9texte ou une tentative pour mieux comprendre l\u2019autre, \u00e0 travers ses codes de communications, peut-\u00eatre vaut-il la peine de s\u2019y attarder.
