Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Communications and supporting the Public Affairs team, the Communications & Public Affairs Coordinator contributes to EverWind's efforts to build strong relationships with stakeholders, communities, and partners. The role emphasizes the development and execution of effective communication strategies-covering content creation, media outreach, and public engagement-while also contributing to government relations activities and stakeholder coordination. With a focus on supporting the company's reputation and strategic objectives, this position offers an opportunity to engage with diverse audiences and help communicate EverWind's approach to clean energy project development.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Digital Content
- Develop and manage content for LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Design engaging graphics and visuals using Canva or similar tools.
- Track engagement metrics and adjust strategies to maximize reach.
- Monitor and respond to social media interactions to foster community engagement.
- Ensure consistency with EverWind's branding across all materials.
Media & Public Relations
- Draft and support the development of media advisories, press releases, media kits, fact sheets, and briefing documents.
- Manage media relations and monitor media coverage relevant to EverWind's projects.
- Support stakeholder communication efforts, including newsletters and external updates.
- Assist with preparing presentations, speeches, or remarks for public and stakeholder meetings.
Website Management
- Support the maintenance and periodic updates of EverWind's corporate website and project sites using WordPress.
- Ongoing assistance with web strategy, development and management.
- Ensure web content is current, accessible and aligned with brand standards.
- Optimize website content for SEO to improve visibility and search performance.
- Assist in drafting newsletters, updates, and other external communication pieces.
Content Development, Stakeholder Support & Coordination
- Support the creation, review, and editing of external outreach and communications materials.
- Assist in planning and organizing public presentations, briefings, and outreach events.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for stakeholder engagement activities, including coordinating meetings and preparing follow-up materials.
- Support the development of briefing notes, policy submissions, and advocacy materials to support government relations efforts.
- Help coordinate scheduling and logistics for interactions with government officials and other stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing presentation materials and key messages for leadership's external outreach.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Strong copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills across formats (web, email, social media, print).
- Proficiency in graphic design and layout, especially with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Experience creating visual content, including short videos.
- Strong research, interpretation, and communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
- Support experience with stakeholder and government engagement, including preparing briefing materials and coordinating meetings.
- Familiarity with website content management systems (WordPress preferred).
Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, political science or a related field, along with relevant work experience.
- Three to four years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations roles, with demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and supporting government relations efforts.
The Details:
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Halifax. The salary range is $65,000 to $80,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The role requires some travel, as well as occasional evening and weekend work. Work will be based out of our Halifax office, with flexibility to work from home.
