POSITION OVERVIEW

We are hiring a platform-native storyteller to help grow and evolve our social presence across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and Little Red Book. This role is for a creative at heart; someone who can write place-led content, story-driven captions, produce compelling short-form video, and build community through authentic engagement. You'll conceptualize, capture, produce, and publish content weekly, manage external shoots and suppliers, and build a strong, organized content library. While social and content are the core focus, you'll also support broader marketing execution including event listings, newsletter support, month-end reporting, and other coordination tasks.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to)

Platform-First Content Creation & Publishing; Create content tailored to each channel. You will:

  • Plan, create, and publish platform-specific content across IG, FB, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pintrest, and Little Red Book (weekly publishing cadence and maintain monthly calendar)
  • Produce and edit short-form video for Reels/TikTok/Shorts
  • Write place-led, storytelling captions that feel human, vivid, and on-brand, supported by your own creative voice
  • Create structured content outlines (e.g., post, story sequence, reel, thumbnail, caption variations)
  • Maintain consistent brand standards across visuals, tone, and messaging

Social Engagement & Community Building; Social success requires being social. You will:

  • Engage daily: respond to comments/DMs, build relationships, and foster conversation
  • Actively interact with aligned accounts (tourism, partners, creators, community voices) to grow visibility
  • Monitor sentiment and provide social "pulse checks" to the leadership team

Content Planning, Research & Trend Intelligence; You will:

  • Support the social media plan with research, insights, and emerging trend tracking
  • Build weekly/monthly content outlines with clear goals, themes, and platform-specific execution
  • Identify opportunities for test-and-learn content (new formats, series ideas, recurring pillars)
  • Maintain a clean internal system for content planning, approvals, and asset tracking

Shoot & Supplier Management (Production Coordination); You will:

  • Coordinate external shoots and suppliers (photo/video/creators) with briefs, shot lists, schedules, and deliverables
  • Ensure content is delivered on time, on brand, and within scope
  • Manage asset organization: naming conventions, storage, usage rights/permissions are secured and documented, and evergreen library building
  • Source and recommend creators/partners where appropriate and assist with content collaborations

Broader Marketing Support; You will:

  • Create event listings for relevant platforms and community calendars
  • Assist with newsletter creation (content blocks, subject line ideas, formatting support, QA)
  • Support month-end reporting (social performance summaries and key insights)
  • Provide general marketing admin support as needed (coordination, tracking, internal comms support)
  • Provide support to other Malahat SkyWalk departments as needed to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experience
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES and QUALIFICATIONS To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • Three (3) years experience working with Social Media within a business environment
  • A creator mindset and operational discipline: imaginative, but structured and reliable
  • Detail-orientation with strong quality control skills (copy, design, captions, specs)
  • That you are curious and trend-aware, but grounded in brand and strategy
  • Comfort collaborating with internal teams and external partners while also working independently
  • The ability to move fast while staying thoughtful and on brand
  • Proven experience creating platform-specific social content (IG/FB/TikTok/LinkedIn/YouTube/Pintrest)
  • Strong writing, editing, and creative briefing skills (copy that tells a story, not just describes a feature)
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design skills (Adobe Creative Suite/Canva)
  • Video editing skills (short-form video a core output)
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
  • Tourism/hospitality experience and an instinct for location driven storytelling
  • Experience managing external suppliers, working with agencies, creators, or influencer partnerships and coordinating requirements (briefing, shot lists, timelines, asset delivery)
  • Experience scheduling and reporting tools (GA4 basics, native social analytics, Sprout/Later/Hootsuite, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly professional attitude

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are not mandatory; however, they will be considered assets:

  • Post Secondary education in a relevant course of study
  • Proficiency in a second language
  • BC FOODSAFE Level 1 and BC Serving It Right certifications
  • Basic First Aid (OFA Level 1)

WORK CONDITIONS

  • This role runs Tuesday-Saturday, with flexibility built in to align with business and personal needs. Some weeks may include alternate days, earlier starts, or later finishes to capture content, support on-site activations, and be present for key moments. The position is primarily on-site, with the option for occasional hybrid work where appropriate.
  • Cross-training in other departments will be required to support the overall guest experience at Malahat SkyWalk. You will also be required to learn about our location, its history, foliage and geography, etcetera in order to answer questions from our guests.
  • This position requires working in variable weather conditions.
