A Japanese Canadian registered charity, Nikkei Place Foundation is hiring a Marketing & Communications Coordinator (Maternity Leave Replacement) to own fundraising marketing and donor communications including a critical multi-million-dollar initiative.

As the fundraising partner to two leading Japanese Canadian organizations, the Nikkei Place Foundation advances initiatives spanning a cultural centre, a national museum, and culturally sensitive seniors' care. In this role, you will play a key part in deepening donor relationships, meaningfully recognizing their impact, and strengthening the community connections that make our work possible.

Marketing Communications Coordinator (12-month contract)

Location: Hybrid (Burnaby, BC)

Part-time, 18-20 hours a week

$23/hour

12-month maternity leave contract, from March/April 2026

Responsibilities:

- Plan and create engaging digital and print content that drives donor engagement and community support

- Manage website updates, social media, and email campaigns tied directly to donor engagement and fundraising goals

- Design impactful donor materials that build long-term relationships

- Work closely with the team as well as community partners to gain hands-on strategic experience in donor engagement-through compelling communications, event support, and fundraising initiatives

Requirements:

· Post-secondary degree.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey organizations' mission compellingly.

· Creative thinker with a passion for crafting impactful stories and experiences that resonate with target audiences.

· Exceptional interpersonal skills that reflect our culture of caring, generosity, and gratitude.

· Strong project time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

· Enthusiasm for working collaboratively with a diverse team and community partners.

· Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for fundraising events.

Preferred Qualifications:

· 2-5 years marketing or communications experience, ideally with some fundraising exposure

· Skilled writer, editor, and designer (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar)

· Organized, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

· Proficiency in social media management, content creation, and email marketing tools. e.g. Wordpress, Facebook, Instagram.

· Ability to communicate in Japanese is an asset, but not essential.
