The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead and optimize day-to-day operations at our new Bellingham assembly facility.

This role is highly operational and focused on execution, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will be directly responsible for ensuring that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and at a high level of quality.

This is not a maintenance role - you will be expected to build, refine, and continuously improve systems as the operation grows.

You will play a central role in ensuring that production consistently meets customer commitments while supporting the company's broader operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own production performance, ensuring output, quality, and efficiency meet business requirements
  • Own on-time and accurate order fulfillment, ensuring customer commitments are consistently met
  • Develop and track KPIs related to throughput, quality, rework, and lead time
  • Proactively identify production bottlenecks and implement solutions to maintain flow
  • Establish and refine SOPs to drive consistency, safety, and efficiency
  • Manage, train and develop production staff, setting clear expectations and accountability
  • Coordinate closely with procurement to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules
  • Collaborate with engineering to support manufacturability and smooth product transitions
  • Collaborate with project management to provide timely and accurate production information on a regular basis that can be communicated to our customers
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput and reduce cost
  • Ensure production processes meet compliance requirements including UL where applicable
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and highly organized production environment

Key Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience (Projected range of $90,000-$110,000 CAD)
  • Annual profit-sharing bonuses
  • Three weeks annual vacation to start
  • Fuel reimbursement for commute
  • Comprehensive medical and dental benefits
  • $500 CAD annual health and fitness credit
  • $1,000 CAD annual education credit

Location

This role is based in Bellingham, WA, with the expectation of daily or near-daily presence at the assembly facility. Candidates based in the Lower Mainland who are able to commute are encouraged to apply. A work visa will be provided at Urban Solar's expense.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Reporting to the President and CEO, you will own production execution and performance at Urban Solar's Bellingham facility.
  • You will lead an assembly and warehousing team of roughly 3-5 people.
  • You will translate operational goals into daily execution, ensuring that production output aligns with demand, quality standards are maintained, and issues are addressed quickly and effectively.
  • You will be directly accountable for whether production meets targets for output, quality, and efficiency. When performance is off track, you will be expected to diagnose root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • You will work closely with procurement and engineering to ensure alignment across supply, production, and product design.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or operations
  • Experience leading or supervising production teams
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Experience working in fast-paced, hands-on environments
  • Experience with ERP systems and production workflows
  • Ability to operate with a high level of ownership and accountability

Skills That Make You Stand Out

  • Experience in light manufacturing or electromechanical assembly
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Experience scaling production in a small or growing company
  • Experience with ISO and/or NRTL (UL, CSA, etc.) certification processes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience building processes from scratch
