POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Project Specialist leads the execution of marketing projects and campaigns, bridging internal business objectives with external-facing campaigns and content with the goal of elevating Winnipeg's visibility as a place to live, work, invest and visit. As a key member of the Marketing team, the Marketing Project Specialist acts as a liaison with all departments within the organization and will need to develop a deep understanding of our core audiences to provide strategic marketing guidance to our business development units.

RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with Winnipeg Economic Development Winnipeg and Tourism's business unit leads and the Director of Marketing to develop comprehensive marketing plans aligned with objectives and priorities with a focus on B2B and economic development priorities
  • Create and own detailed project plans, deliverables, work back schedules, and budgets in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and across internal teams and external agencies
  • Lead the execution and optimization of integrated marketing campaigns that build awareness of Winnipeg as a destination for investment and events
  • Act as the primary liaison with external agency partners and vendors to ensure campaign objectives, timelines and deliverables are met
  • Provide appropriate briefs to ensure all aspects of a project are agreed to and delivered on brief and on budget
  • Collaborate with other teams in the organization to understand their initiatives and goals and how best to achieve them through marketing support
  • Establish and communicate clear project roles, responsibilities and timelines across teams
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Understanding of audience segmentation and experience executing marketing projects and campaigns through earned, owned and paid tactics
  • Ability to distill complex topics into dynamic messaging
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to manage several concurrent projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and editing skills
  • Ability to manage budgets, vendors and agency relationships
  • Excellent communication skills including experience working with and presenting to peers and leadership teams
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Diploma or degree in marketing and/or communications is required
  • Minimum three years of marketing experience, with a focus on project management and campaign development
  • Experience working with external agencies to deliver on projects
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience in preparing and writing creative marketing briefs
  • Experience with digital marketing tools, platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, HubSpot) and performance optimization techniques
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, monday.com and Salesforce is preferred
  • Experience in marketing for tourism, business or economic development is preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Full-time, in-office position with standard business hours
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects simultaneously.
