Position Summary:

This role organizationally reports to the General Manager, NWRP. The Manager - Marketing shall be primarily responsible for the activities of the Partnership relating to the optimization of feedstock and marketing of refined materials in accordance with the decisions and directions of the Commercial Steering Committee and within the parameters set by the toll payers.

The Manager - Marketing will provide leadership to the Marketing team and is a key member of the North West Redwater Partnership (NWR) Senior Leadership Team.

The Manager - Marketing is responsible for overseeing execution of trading and scheduling ensuring refinery feedstock supply demand is met and optimized as well as developing and implementing refined product sales strategies. This position will drive value creation through carbon emissions credit monetization and carbon fuels application of legislation.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team responsible for crude supply trading and scheduling, refined product sales and Carbon Trading. Includes ensuring DOA limits are maintained, credit policies are adhered to, etc.;
  • Coordinate with the Commercial Steering Committee to develop, analyze and implement long-term strategic marketing and logistical plans for feedstock and refined products such as diesel, condensate and natural gas liquids;
  • Liaise extensively with internal stakeholders such as the operations and engineering groups as well as with the Commercial Steering Committee and Executive Leadership Committee to identify opportunities to maximize revenues while reducing operational and transportation risk and costs;
  • Manage relationships with existing truck and rail lifting organizations to ensure safety and environmental compliances are adhered to and to ensure optimal performance metrics are met;
  • Maintain high levels of communication with key internal stakeholders and refinery owners with the ability to inform and advise on industry events impacting refinery returns;
  • Lead the development and execution of commercial agreements, including new infrastructure arrangements such as pipeline and terminal connection contracts, term natural gas logistic contracts, NGL transportation and fractionization contracts and;
  • Ensure appropriate reviews and analyses are in place to support approvals of various commercial contracts per the DOA;
  • Acts as Chair for the Commercial Steering Committee. This requires of the NWR stakeholders;
  • Representative for the company on various committees such as the Canadian Fuels Association, along with participation in industry functions and events;
  • Provide support and expertise to other special projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree and 15+ years of total experience, which is a combination of deep business and technical management experience;
  • Must be a team player: willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share, and seek information and guidance;
  • Must be a strategic thinker and planner with an ability recognize when detailed information is required and interpret that detail to evaluate business and market related issues;
  • Must have strong investigative skills and an ability to ask questions to draw out required information;
  • Must be able to draw on deep and broad experience of the Western Canadian heavy crude supply and logistics market context and ability to interact with external counterparties;
  • Must possess foresight and wisdom to ensure that issues with commercial implications as well as opportunities are addressed at the commercial and operating management level in an appropriate and open manner;
  • Must possess strong leadership and support skills, looking at the big picture and empowering subordinates and support groups appropriately;
  • Must be self-confident enough to seek assistance with difficult or complex issues;
  • Strong coaching/mentoring skills are an asset.
