Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee status

International students and other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.

This role is for 8 weeks at 35 hours per week.

Position Summary

The Marketing & IT Administrative Assistant will provide hands?on support to META's marketing, communications, and internal IT-related administrative functions. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to build practical experience in marketing, digital communications, and technology support within a community?focused non?profit organization.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations and Administration teams to support day?to?day marketing activities, basic IT coordination, and general office administration.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Assist with creating and updating marketing materials (digital and print), including flyers, posters, and social media content
  • Support website updates and content maintenance (text, images, basic formatting)
  • Assist with social media scheduling, tracking engagement, and basic analytics
  • Help organize materials for job fairs, community events, and outreach initiatives
  • Support branding consistency across materials and platforms

IT & Digital Support

  • Assist with basic IT administrative tasks such as inventory tracking of devices, software lists, and equipment logs
  • Provide basic support with Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Teams, Excel, SharePoint)
  • Assist with documentation of IT processes and simple how?to guides for staff
  • Support file organization, digital clean?up, and adherence to naming conventions

Administrative & Office Support

  • Data entry and maintenance of tracking sheets and spreadsheets
  • Electronic filing, scanning, and document organization
  • Assist with preparing drafts, reports, and internal documents as requested
  • Other administrative duties as assigned to support daily operations

Education & Experience (Asset / Preferred)

We are looking for someone who has or is working toward education or experience in one or more of the following:

  • Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or Business
  • Information Technology, Computer Systems, or related field
  • Experience with social media platforms, basic graphic design tools, or website content management
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 tools
