Purpose of the role

As we scale up our technology and prepare for a demonstration project, we are looking for a Technical Writer and Grant Specialist to support our R&D and engineering teams. This role will drive the identification, application, and reporting of nondilutive funding opportunities while streamlining technical reporting processes to ensure clear, efficient, and accurate communication within the company. This role is ideal for an ambitious, detail-oriented person who can juggle many projects and ensure timely and precise execution and reporting.

Your Responsibilities will be to:

  • Identify and proactively apply for nondilutive funding opportunities that align with business functions (e.g., R&D, business development, export development).
  • Develop detailed statements of work (SOW) and budgets for grant applications, ensuring alignment with company goals and cashflows.
  • Track application statuses and fulfill monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reporting requirements, including technical report submissions and financial communications.
  • Prepare technical presentations, reports and other documentation to fulfill grant reporting requirements and/or communicate with various audiences (e.g., stakeholders, investors, internal teams).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, scientists, accounting, leadership) to ensure technical and financial reporting accuracy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funding organizations and other key stakeholders.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in a STEM field (e.g., engineering, science, or related discipline).
  • 2+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Successfully secured funding for past employers.
  • Experience working with funding agencies is a plus.
  • Experience fulfilling grant reporting requirements, including submitting claims reports.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
  • Proficiency with Google sheets (Excel), including building and managing budget sheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Team-oriented individual who is a capable problem-solver, with strong coordination skills, and understands conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong sense of accountability and a desire to continually improve oneself.
