Senior Gas Marketing Representative

Spartan is seeking an individual to fulfill the responsibilities of a Senior Gas Marketing Representative to join the Marketing and Joint Venture team. This role is primarily responsible for negotiating and optimizing natural gas sales, managing product logistics, reviewing and analyzing marketing statements, and preparing monthly sales summaries.

What You Will Do

• Optimizing NGTL natural gas transportation contracts.
• Representing Spartan at NGTL and TransCanada TTFP meetings.
• Natural gas trading on ICE, including daily balancing.
• Seeking and evaluating new gas marketing opportunities.
• Monitoring daily volumes to ensure all marketing commitments are being met
• Managing nominations, confirmations and transportation.
• Prepare monthly accruals.
• Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and industry peers.
• Tracking daily balancing, transportation use, and NGTL system dynamics daily.
• Conduct market intelligence and research as required within Alberta and North American Markets.
• Responsible for day-to-day management of natural gas marketing function which includes price negotiation, trading, and logistics management.
• Monthly balancing of corporate trading and balancing.
• Develop and present concepts to improve netbacks on gas.
• Perform daily CSO duties and place nominations on the NGTL system to optimize firm pipeline gas transportation while maximizing value to the company.
• Liaise with internal groups to proactively assist in the long-term infrastructure planning to ensure the movement of all products and the ability to meet long term plans.
• Develop strong relationships, both internally and externally, to ensure the successful execution of Spartan's marketing strategy.
• Evaluate on-going price optimization and diversification strategies for the marketing of Spartan's production.

Who You Are

• A minimum of ten (10) years of industry experience in a gas marketing related role.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Business acumen and proven commercial skills required to recognize business opportunities and how they relate to Spartan's financial performance.
• Familiar with ICE, TransCanada NrG Highway, AER, and Petrinex websites.
• Hands on experience with natural gas marketing/logistics.
• Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
