JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a service writer to add to the team at our heavy equipment dealership. The service writer is responsible for organizing the service department. This person is the primary point of contact for scheduling and updates on repairs on all sales and rental equipment as well as customer owned equipment. The primary responsibility is to prioritize repair work orders accurately and promptly. Job costing, invoicing, and tracking repairs are critical for success in this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with customers and outside salesmen to schedule and prioritize repair jobs.
  • Communicate with the shop foreman regarding repair progress and immediate priorities.
  • Promptly and accurately create and close work orders for service department.
  • Promptly and accurately invoice internal and external repair jobs.
  • Accurately track equipment repair costs through purchase orders and work orders.
  • Work with the shop foreman to maintain adequate levels of shop supplies.
  • Monitor rental equipment fleet for service intervals, Commercial Vehicle Inspections, etc
  • Assist shop foreman and management with compliance including internal policies, procedures and SOPs, WHMIS, TDG, forklift and crane training, etc.

  • $70,000 to $75,000 per year
