The Position:

Reporting to the AVP, Strategic Communications and Public Affairs, the Creative Communications and Media Specialist, will be responsible for planning, developing, and producing visual communications products, content, materials and projects to support the association's work in promoting the industry's visibility, reputation and perspective with relevant stakeholders through social media, advocacy materials, policy papers, government submissions and other collateral.

What you will be working on:

  • Content creation: Develop, write and edit content for communications products (e.g., news releases, statements, social media posts) and create associated visual content.
  • Project development and management: Work with internal stakeholders, including cross-functional teams to plan and lead the development of core communications projects, including social media.
  • Creative and brand development: Responsible for recommending, promoting and ensuring adherence to CLHIA's brand standards by planning, developing and producing branded assets, including for print, web, graphics and video for web, social, print, displays for live events, and marketing materials.
  • Events creative: Working with the events team, develop and design visual content for events including design for on-site displays, promotional and marketing emails, branded content, and other materials.
  • Advisory and client services: Provide expert advice about brand and visual communications tactics to internal clients, including producing high quality finished graphics work such as infographics, iconography, etc.
  • Manage suppliers: Source and collaborate with outside suppliers to produce other creative assets and projects.
  • Media relations: Provide back-up for responding to media inquiries.

What you will bring:

Professional qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary qualifications in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience planning, writing, editing, and packaging high quality web and social content using video and graphic design software.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent English language communication skills, with an emphasis on writing and editing. The ability to work in French will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms.
  • Experience planning, developing, shaping, and delivering digital content in a collaborative environment with colleagues, internal clients, external suppliers, and production agencies.
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects, including those with tight timelines, amid changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to grasp opportunities and find solutions independently or by inspiring team members to collaborate.
  • Proficiency working in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Express, Adobe Illustrator or Abode InDesign
