Digital and Social Media Assistant

(Canada Summer Jobs)

Fixed-term for 8 weeks

$16.55 per hour, 35 hours per week

Position Summary

The Digital and Social Media Assistant will work with the Marketing and Communications department to provide support in creating digital and multi-media content for CWF's social media and digital platforms.

Duties will include:

  • Assist with the development of content across CWF social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Snapchat, TikTok)
  • Develop channel-specific videos and visuals such as Instagram stories, Facebook video ads, TikTok videos, and YouTube pre-roll for paid and organic posts
  • Work collaboratively with members of CWF's youth programs to develop program specific social media content for their social platforms
  • Assist in building community engagement with CWF and program specific social media followers through social listening, monitoring and interacting, as directed
  • Participate in cross-departmental planning meetings for organizational campaigns and initiatives, sharing ideas and contributing to the development of marketing and communications plans
  • Assist in creating analytics and insights reporting for paid and organic social media
  • Research recent social trends, content from other competing organizations, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience with social media and digital platforms.
  • Experience creating and editing videos intended for use on social media.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • English, both written and oral. Second languages such as French would be an asset.
  • Effective and informative communicator in English.
  • Ability to multi-task between many competing priorities.

Eligibility:

This position is a part of Canada Summer Jobs, a program of the Government of Canada. To be eligible for this position, the candidate must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • **International students are not eligible participants.

Work Conditions

  • Full-time at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, for a term of 8 weeks. Pending funding decisions.
  • Wage: $16.55 per hour
  • Anticipated start date: July 2, 2024
  • Location: CWF's Head Office in Ottawa, ON.
  • Extended periods of sitting.
  • Working in an office environment which may be noisy at times.

Length of Contract

The anticipated start date for this summer position is 2 July 2024 for a period of 8 weeks.
