Digital Marketing is the most dynamic and fastest growing marketing area that is critical for a successful future for Staples Canada. What makes retail digital marketing different is the opportunity to work with directly with vendors on co-operative digital marketing campaigns. This position is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of co-op paid digital marketing programs for Staples for key vendors and the management of the Affiliate program.

The Sr. Digital Marketing Specialist will execute strategies and tactics to support vendor acquisition and sales objectives across digital channels. This role will be involved across multiple digital channels including SEM, Programmatic, Display, Video, and Paid Social campaigns. The Specialist is accountable for executing digital marketing campaigns for key vendor partners, meeting revenue and cost targets, providing accurate and timely reporting, and identifying areas of opportunity based on data-driven insights and industry trends. The Specialist will work closely with the Integrated Marketing Team, Merchandising, and key vendors to develop digital campaigns tailored to the vendor's goal.

Specifically, You Will:

Search Engine Marketing (SEM)

  • Develops and supports paid search marketing strategies and campaigns for Staples vendors, this includes Google text and shopping ads. Monitors and optimizes campaigns throughout the program period and provides in-depth post-campaign reports to be shared with vendors
  • Manage relationships with account reps to identify new test and learn opportunities.

Display, Programmatic and Video Marketing

  • Develops and executes digital marketing campaigns including display, programmatic, native, OLV and YouTube based on program strategy and objectives. Monitors and optimizes campaigns throughout the program period and provides in-depth post-campaign reports to be shared with vendors.
  • Manage relationships with account reps and external vendors to identify new test and learn opportunities.
  • Submits creative briefs and provides feedback on online creative to follow channel best practices.

Paid Social Marketing

  • Develops and supports Paid Social marketing strategies and campaigns, this includes running ads with Facebook Ads Manager, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc. Monitors and optimizes campaigns throughout the program period and provides in-depth post-campaign reports to be shared with vendors
  • Manage relationships with account reps to identify new test and learn opportunities.
  • Submits creative briefs for Paid Social campaigns and provides feedback on online creative following channel best practices.

Affiliate Marketing

  • Manages the Staples Canada affiliate program, this includes working closely with agency partners to monitor and optimize channel performance.
  • Tests coupons, placements, and commission structure with co-operative vendors to drive more efficient campaigns, provides recommendations back to various stakeholders based on outcomes.

Relationship Management

  • Works directly with key merchandising vendors to develop customized digital marketing programs that align to their program objectives. This includes presenting digital marketing plans to both internal and external stakeholders to gain alignment, and pitching new channels and opportunities.
  • Manages the digital marketing relationship with key merchandising vendors including coordinating creative development, creative approvals, and providing in-depth post-campaign reports to be shared with external vendors.
  • Leverages internal stakeholders to increase understanding of vendor programs and seeks out opportunities.
  • Some of what you need:
  • Bachelor Level degree in Business or Marketing or a similar program
  • Proactive and self-motivated work style with proven ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Strong and effective communication (both written & oral) and interpersonal skills; ability to create and explain technical digital concepts in laymen's terms.
  • A keen interest and passion for Digital Marketing and the industry.
  • Proficient with digital marketing channels including Google search, display and video, and Paid Social channels (Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Excellent client management skills including working with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience using Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, Pinterest Ads Manager.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience performing digital marketing as it pertains to the role.
  • Experience managing digital marketing budgets in a programmatic environment.
