Take a Hike empowers youth who experience vulnerability to change the trajectory of their lives with a full-time mental health and emotional well-being program embedded in an alternate education classroom. Take a Hike engages youth with intentional, continuous clinical counselling, experiential land-based learning, and community. THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Specialist serves as an integral member of the organization and development team, catapulting the magic of digital marketing through trends and new practices to advance Take a Hike Foundation's mission.

A true marketer, the Marketing Specialist is responsible for collaborating across teams to deliver content across Take a Hike's digital channels to Take a Hike's audience and community. This person will engage and inform Take a Hike's team with compelling content that supports donor engagement, community building, and reputation growth thereby creating deep trust of the Take a Hike Foundation. The ideal candidate has an analytical mindset and a love for creating content and community. They have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The Specialist will be on-top of digital marketing trends, have a thorough understanding of audience engagement across channels, and a deep respect for best practices related to CASL and Take a Hike's Privacy Policy.

In their first year, the Marketing Specialist will develop a comprehensive digital marketing plan to grow Take a Hike Foundation's audience across all digital channel (socials, website, email, etc). They will work closely with the Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications to develop KPIs and analysis of digital channels to ensure Take a Hike is successful in donor engagement, lead generation, and brand trust.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Email Marketing & Campaign Support

  • Work with Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications, supporting the development and optimization of media plans across all channels including paid advertising.
  • Collaborate with Senior Manager, Annual Giving to ensure campaigns are donor led, data driven and optimized in real time.
  • Take ownership of campaign project management and support creative resourcing, utilizing calendars, briefs and other tools to effectively coordinate team members, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Formulating strategies to acquire new donors, aligning with the organization's goals.
  • Support in the execution of the digital fundraising strategy with the goal of maximizing recurring and single gift revenue for the organization (utilizing all digital fundraising tactics available such as: search, display, social, native, etc.)
  • Manage email marketing tool (Mailchimp) and all email marketing activities, including monthly newsletter, event-related content, distribution lists, and calendar.
  • Plan and implement search engine optimisation (SEO) including use of Google Analytics.
  • Implement, optimize, and maintain paid digital marketing portfolio, including Google Ads, and social media advertising.

Social Media & Website Management

  • Assist in analyzing marketing data to optimize campaigns and help shape future marketing strategies.
  • Stay informed with current marketing and digital trends.
  • Supporting Digital team with website content and design updates to ensure information and resources are kept up-to-date, accurate, and optimised for the user experience.
  • Owning the optimization of the end-to-end email user journey by improving website user experience and leverage analytics to optimize conversions on landing pages.
  • Liaising with key internal stakeholders to inform planning and curating content in collaboration with Content & Communications team.
  • Manage social media channels, including content creation, scheduling, and engaging with followers.

Graphic Design & Events Support

  • Manage vendor relationships, creating clear creative briefs, supporting the creation of compelling creative concepts and delivery of on brand assets including video, ads, digital ads, signage, print, internal tools, templates, etc.
  • Create engaging content for all digital channels, using Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools.
  • Support special event activities including AGM, regional events, and special partnerships (eg, Homes for the Holidays, SHINE, etc).
  • Support Third Party event organizers with various aspects of event planning and ensure consistent use of the Take a Hike brand.
  • Other duties as assigned.

May be asked to perform other tasks which are related but not necessarily regular duties.

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience with integrated marketing campaigns
  • Working knowledge of market research, surveys, and data analytics
  • Proficiency with content management systems
  • Experience in planning and leading initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to inspire confidence from staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage competing priorities in a high-volume and results-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Excellent organization and time and project management skills, as well as the ability to successfully manage changing priorities often in ambiguity.
  • Ability to work with confidential information, data, and materials.
  • Strong computer skills: comfort with Microsoft Office suite and basic knowledge of CRM databases (Salesforce is an asset)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and graphic design
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check with vulnerable populations

TERMS AND COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time permanent position based in our Vancouver, BC office with a minimum of two days a week in the office required and an expectation to be available for some evenings and weekends dependent on the needs of the department.

We offer a salary of $56,950 - $67,000 commensurate with experience, based on a 37.5-hour work week with generous benefits that include:
