Strathcona Resources Ltd. We are actively seeking an experienced Sr. Communications Advisor to join our team in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, this generalist position is focused on internal communications, including intranet management and day-to-day client needs, as well as assisting with the planning, implementing, and evaluating of other communication projects that reinforce the company's values, culture, strategy and community investment approach.

Responsibilities:

Internal Communications:

Support the development of an overall internal communications approach to drive engagement, strengthen culture and ensure employees understand the company's strategy, values, culture and performance.

Work closely with teams and leaders from across Strathcona to develop and implement communication plans and approaches. This includes providing strategic guidance, creating key messaging, delivering tactics, designing collateral and offering general support for internal client groups.

Create and share compelling content that leaves employees feeling informed and engaged.

Manage, monitor, analyze and continuously improve Strathcona's internal communication channels, with specific focus on intranet enhancement.

Live and strengthen Strathcona's values, culture and employee experience through activate participation in internal corporate projects and activities.

Act as the Communications team representative for the Calgary social and community investment committee and participate in other local committees as needed.

Community Investment and Sponsorships:

Support the implementation of the community investment and sponsorship strategies and resulting initiatives.

Work with field leadership, Indigenous Relations and local donation committees to identify opportunities to leverage Strathcona's community investments and sponsorships with key stakeholder groups.

Provide communications support for community investment and sponsorship projects and participate in and manage company and community events.

Crisis Communications:

Work closely with the Manager, Communications to improve and maintain preparedness plans to support the company's ability to respond in the event of an operational or reputational emergency.

Update the crisis communications plan and support table-top and full-scale emergency response exercises as needed.

Assist with response efforts in the event of an incident.

External Communications

Facilitate in-house media monitoring and social listening, reporting on outcomes and updating criteria as needed.

Support and participate in the development of media advisories, news releases and announcement strategies as requested.

Provide external communications counsel to senior leadership and key stakeholders including managing ongoing media training.

Maintaining brand standards to ensure consistency and compliance.

Contribute to and implement website and social media posting strategies to engage various stakeholders.

Emerging Projects:

Create and implement communication plans to support specific projects, issues and change initiatives and ensure these plans have alignment to the overall communication strategy, and Strathcona's business and communication priorities, culture, and values.

Qualifications Include:

Skills and Knowledge:

Experience acting as a consultant to internal client groups and a track record as a trusted and strategic communications advisor.

Excellent communications skills, including planning, research, writing, editing and measurement.

Strong writing abilities (both print and digital), including key message development and speech writing experience.

Interested and motivated to find communication solutions to business challenges.

Ability to successfully manage multiple projects to tight deadlines, both independently and as a member of a team.

Comfortable working in a high-change, fast-paced environment and demonstrates flexibility and an ability to respond easily to shifting priorities.

Capable in video development and creative design.

Education and Experience:

8 or more years of experience, preferably within a corporate communication setting.

Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or other related discipline. Equivalencies of experience and education will be considered.

Oil and gas experience preferred.

A background or familiarity with change and reputation management and/or sustainability communication is an asset.

Proficient in the Office 365 environment.

Strong SharePoint knowledge with content management and design capability.

Familiarity with programs and platforms including Canva, WordPress and social media management tools.

Valid Class 5 driver's license.

Work Environment:

Based at the Calgary head office. (TD Canada Trust Tower).
