Job Description:

We are seeking a technical and creative graphic designer to join our team. As a graphic designer, you will produce visual solutions to meet our clients' communication needs. You will need attention to detail, the ability to align with brand guidelines and strong experience with the latest design software. Managing multiple requests, working well in a team, and meeting tight deadlines is crucial for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to understand their needs by gathering information/data, interpreting their requirements, and seeking clarification where necessary.
  • Think creatively to produce new designs (including illustrations, maps, and icons) that adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Use a wide range of media, including photography and illustrations, to produce high-quality work (i.e., forms, posters, social media posts, invitations, fact sheets, etc.)
  • Create production-ready files.
  • Contribute ideas and designs based on client requests.
  • Deliver multiple proposed concepts for the client to review.
  • Work well in a team with printers, copywriters, and other designers.
  • Work to tight deadlines while balancing multiple requests at a time.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide graphic consultation through meetings and projects.
  • Keep up to date with developments in design programs and technology.
  • Adhere to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) relating to the communication standard.
  • Review proofs and work with printers on the production of printed material.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of a graphic or photographic library and maintain digital records.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of the graphic design intake process.

Education & Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Commercial Art/Graphic Design preferred, or other related certificates or equivalent years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of 0 - 3 years of related job experience.
  • Understanding of print (digital/offset) process and production methods.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly develop business relationships.
  • Strong self-motivation to drive results.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including experience with PowerPoint.
  • High proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
  • Experience with the latest Mac Operating System
