Position: Social Media Coordinator

Reports To: Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement

Qualifications: A full-time or part-time daytime student at Sheridan College with a GPA of at least 2.5, and not undergoing a co-op term between the months of September to April.

Term: August 2024 - April 2025

Location: Home Campus, Student Union Office/Hybrid

Hours: Up to16 hours per week

Pay Rate: $18.50

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Coordinators are responsible for enriching the student experience beyond

academics and will report to the Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement.

Social Media Coordinators will be responsible for brainstorming and executing social media

content and campaigns to facilitate community, for both the campus and broader college

community, and ensure Sheridan students receive information about SSU events, services and

initiatives.

Social Media Coordinators will be responsible for working with and maintaining the brand

identity and student voice of the SSU. All team members will be expected to work in a respectful

manner with all SSU Staff, volunteers, Sheridan College staff and Sheridan College students.

Social Media Coordinator Responsibilities

? Assist the Marketing department in developing and executing social media content and

campaigns on SSU social media channels (Ex: Instagram and Tik Tok)

? Creating engaging content regularly through the creative use of different mediums

across multiple SSU social media platforms, to foster online community among

Sheridan College students and organically increase the reach and profile of the SSU.

? Liaising with different departments within the SSU to facilitate the promotion of and

community development focused on our events, services, clubs, governance and

organizational initiatives.

? Develop and execute effective and creative social media strategies. Will be responsible

for development of storyline, asset creation, audience engagement tactics etc for social

media with team members and management.

? As directed by management, will be expected to attend certain SSU day and/or night

events to engage students with live social media content.

? Act in such a manner that reflects the professional values and expectations of the SSUI

and operate in accordance with the Values and Mission as well as the by-laws and

policies of SSUI.

? Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

? Comfortable interacting and appearing on SSU social channels, as a representative of

the SSU and collaborating with other student leaders to create content.

? Strong understanding of social media / digital marketing platforms, their respective

features and how to use them creatively to execute campaigns.

? Strong organizational and time management skills.

? Responsible and committed to weekly meetings

? Excellent communication skills - online and in person

? Experience with Canva an asset

? Content Creation experience an asset

? Ability to work independently and as a member of the team accountably

? Approachable, friendly, creative and reliable

? Passionate about the #SheridanLife & knowledgeable about all things SSU and

Passionate about the student community
