Digital Marketing Specialist

18 Month Contract - $47,000 - $53,000/yr

Science North is hiring a Digital Marketing Specialist to help support a funded project called Our Climate Quest, a climate action initiative that has two traveling exhibitions and a digital engagement component. The goal is to connect with youth across Canada to inspire them to commit to make climate-conscious choices and become ?change agents? to contribute to Canada's goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

We're hiring a marketing specialist ninja who can produce, support and execute the most compelling marketing, digital, media relations and communications campaigns with the same effortless ease as they juggle multiple projects and deadlines.

This role will help support the Marketing department with a wide variety of duties. The Marketing Specialist, under the supervision of the Senior Marketing Specialist, will be responsible for the organization and execution of digital marketing campaigns, media and communication initiatives, and advertising tactics. This role may require occasionally working on weekends and evenings to oversee events as coordinated by the Marketing department.

While Science North has adopted a hybrid work environment, this position requires in-person filming and collaboration. The successful candidate must be available to work on-site at Science North (Sudbury) during regular work hours.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Film and edit videos to support the Our Climate Quest project along with other marketing projects as required.
  • Develop exciting corporate communications and public relations programs and campaigns that position Science North as a leading science and visitor attraction in Canada and globally.
  • Work with the Senior Marketing Specialist to flush out the execution elements and procedures on new initiatives undertaken by the Marketing department designed to extend the reach of the Our Climate Quest project
  • Work with the exhibit tour manager to coordinate advertising and media initiatives related to the tour(s)
  • Coordinate media events through the full cycle; planning, execution, follow up and evaluation.
  • Write news releases, web copy collateral, speaking notes, reports and other materials to targeted stakeholders and audiences, both on and off-line.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • College or University degree in Business Studies, preferably in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Experience in social media (Facebook, X, Instagram, Tiktok) is an asset
  • Strong organizational, time management, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Strong writing and communications skills
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

COMPENSATION PACKAGE HIGHLIGHTS:

This is a full-time 18-month contract position supported by the following compensation package:

  • Starting salary range $47,300 - $53,000 per year
