Banff Sunshine Village is a world-class ski and snowboard resort in Banff, Alberta, famed for Canada's Best Snow. The Social Media & Digital Design Coordinator is responsible for assisting with, reporting on, and organizing social and media objectives for Banff Sunshine Village, being a key, real-time content creator. This role will work closely with the Communications and Events teams to animate the Sunshine experience and will effectively communicate with all departments throughout the Resort.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Create and capture daily content at the resort for all of Banff Sunshine Villages Social Media platforms and post it online, in accordance with the Sunshine Social Schedule.
  • Monitor Banff Sunshine Village Social Media platforms, respond to guests inquiries and generate weekly reports.
  • Work with the content creators, reviewing their output for accuracy and adherence to brand guidelines, implementing design strategies to achieve the organization's marketing and branding objectives, and collaborating with the team to conceptualize and develop creative design solutions in alignment with project goals, target audience, and deliver outstanding creative work.
  • Utilize graphic design expertise to execute projects, integrating skills in typography, composition, alignment, color theory, hierarchy, legibility, and motion design to create visually captivating graphics, animations, and layouts across a diverse range of digital and print media, effectively conveying the intended message.
  • Manage multiple design projects, overseeing their lifecycle from conceptualization to completion, ensuring alignment with the company's visual identity and brand guidelines, and provide guidance and training to team members as necessary.
  • Create wireframes and mock-ups of visually appealing website/app designs that are responsive, user-friendly, accessible, adhere to best practices, align with business objectives, maintain consistency with Banff Sunshine Village's brand, and provide front-end development support to team members and other departments as needed.
  • Customize, design, update, edit, iterate, optimize, monitor, and troubleshoot our Shopify retail store, integrating and configuring relevant apps and plugins for enhanced functionality, leveraging data analytics to inform design decisions, and providing guidance and training to team members as necessary.
  • Assist in the implementation of media relations, communications, and marketing strategies.
  • Assist with research of media targets and social media influencers to connect with.
  • Track coverage and assist with the compilation of weekly, monthly, and annual media relations reports.
  • Assist in researching, writing, and editing press releases, website copy, fact sheets and additional communication materials.
  • Highlight key services and amenities provided by Banff Sunshine Village on social media. This includes highlighting Sunshine Mountain Lodge, ski school, restaurants, rentals and more.
  • Assist with taking and editing inspiring daily photos and videos that show the FUN of Banff Sunshine Village.
  • Aid in the production of weekly content.
  • Promote, share, and highlight Sunshine events. Create event photo albums and publish recap videos.
  • Take direction from the VP of Brand & Communications, and the Marketing, Communications and Events Supervisor to check in with various departments on-mountain.
  • Assist with the set-up, running, and teardown of all events.
  • Write weekly event news updates, and post event recaps for all Sunshine-hosted events.
  • Assist with sourcing feature opportunities and maintaining a content library.
  • Assist on-mountain sales and marketing with events, groups, and familiarization tours.
  • Act as an ambassador and mediator; throughout all aspects of work as per Banff Sunshine Village brand policy.

Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

  • Outgoing, energetic, social and creative personality.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or advertising (preferred) - OR - equivalent work experience in public relations, copy writing, events, photo/video creation and editing within social media focused environments (content creation).
  • Excellent writing ability with significant experience in writing content for websites or other publications. Ability to write both comically and professionally, depending on the medium.
  • Practical experience working with social networks and platforms, including Facebook, X, Tiktok, lnstagram, blogs, YouTube, and Vimeo.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, After Effects and lnDesign) and video editing software such as Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro is a must.
  • Experience sourcing and managing content and publishing.
  • Must be an expert skier or snowboarder. Skiing or snowboarding for work requires completion of a competency test, skiing and riding professionally, and is restricted to designated runs.
  • Skiing or snowboarding equipment used for work must be in good operating condition, meet Sunshine Village Equipment requirements, and may be tested throughout the season.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work individually (self-starter) and as part of a team. Coachability and willingness to take direction are essential.
  • Prepared to work flexible schedules (weekends, holidays).

  • Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
  • This position works indoors and outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • This is a highly visible, dynamic role. All team members are expected to maintain professional conduct, particularly when acting as a company representative, on or off-duty.
