The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada’s bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams – the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety – and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC is located in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, you will elevate the Arts Alive brand among schools, youth, and families locally and nationally. You will lead the development, implementation, and reporting of annual marketing strategies across all artistic disciplines (dance, theatre, music) to increase awareness, engagement, and attendance for all NAC Arts Alive products and events. To do this, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, partners, and leaders to design campaigns, initiatives and market activations that resonate. Ones that ultimately inspire schools, youth, and families to (repeatedly) attend and actively participate in events at the NAC.

YOUR WORK MIGHT INCLUDE:

  • Campaign Creation – Design and deliver repeatable and financially responsible campaigns that leverage multimedia content built for distribution on various channels in order to raise awareness and drive attendance
  • Analysis & Insights – Embrace a data-informed approach to the work, ensuring that proposals, business cases and strategic recommendations are based on sound evidence and critical research
  • Communications Mastery – Develop and disseminate effective and engaging content that amplify the Arts Alive brand, mission and projects – be it on social media, by email or else
  • Project Management – Act as Project Manager, for selected initiatives/activations, so that teams are given clear goals, milestones and information to execute their work effectively and timely
  • Brand Narratives – Resonate, captivate and inspire audiences with consistent and relevant creative and stories and initiatives
  • Innovation & Ingenuity – Collaborate with a cross-section of teammates, partners, leaders and communities to implement solutions that stick
  • Budget Balancing – Ensure that work is tracked and managed in a way that is financially responsible, in line with budgetary realities and mindful of saving (vs. spending) whenever possible
  • Cross-Disciplinary Relations – Navigate and collaborate with your colleagues across all disciplines in service of fulfilling Arts Alive’s mission, bringing life to ideas that bring audiences towards the art on our stages.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary diploma/degree in Business, Marketing or related discipline;
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as a brand marketer or similar position;
  • Fluency in both official languages is required;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially in writing and editing, including the ability to create, edit, and proofread marketing materials, and post content on social media or the website;
  • Demonstrated sense of initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving;
  • Superior project management skills with a proven ability to deliver multiple projects on time, within budget and within scope;
  • Superior knowledge of, and experience in, digital marketing, including social media and digital marketing solutions;
  • Experience in agency relationship management, as well as marketing campaign strategy development, implementation, analysis and reporting;
  • Strong creative and analytical thinking and reporting skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, high-volume environment with shifting priorities and multiple stakeholders;
  • Experience managing budgets;
  • Experience in education marketing/marketing to schools would be an asset;
  • Experience in arts and/or entertainment marketing would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of the performing arts and/or performing arts education would be an asset;
  • Proficiency in using MS Word and Excel;
  • Must be available to work in the office six (6) days out of ten (10) days, as well as occasional weekend or evening work.
