About Our Client:

Our client is an Ambulatory Centre located in Richmond Hill.

Position Scope:

Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director of Marketing and Communications is a senior leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the organization's overall goals and objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills and a deep understanding of current marketing and communication trends within the public sector.

Responsibilities:

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research to understand target audiences, competitor analysis, and industry trends.
  • Lead communication efforts across both internal and external audiences, ensuring a common voice and tone across all communications, and play a vital role to align communications with the organization.
  • Work closely with a variety of stakeholders, coordinating the activities of Marketing Communications across the enterprise and serves as the programmatic and operational leader for Marketing Communications. This position monitors the evolving communication landscapes to identify communication trends, including new tools and technologies.
  • Drive organizational communication planning, including supporting business case preparation, to better engage target audiences. This role serves as an expert to advise internal clients on approaches for how to drive audience engagement and understanding.
  • Expand the use of communication vehicles to support audience engagement
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing and communications plan aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
  • Establish clear marketing and communication objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Stay up to date on the latest marketing and communication trends and best practices and recommend their integration into the strategy.
  • Oversee the development and management of the organization's brand identity, including brand voice, messaging, and visual guidelines.
  • Provide Marketing & Communications support as required.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all marketing and communication channels.
  • Effectively facilitates meetings at the Marketing Communications and organizational level.
  • Manages complex interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to ensure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within Marketing Communications.
  • Oversee all aspects of marketing and communications, including;
  • Internal communications
  • External communications (press releases, media relations, public relations)
  • Digital marketing (website content, social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing)
  • Content marketing (blog posts, articles, case studies)
  • Advertising (develop and manage advertising campaigns across various channels)
  • Develop and implement creative and targeted marketing campaigns to generate leads, brand awareness, and engagement.

People Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Leadership Team and external stakeholders.
  • Engages staff and other stakeholders in continuous improvement of communications systems and processes.
  • Organizes and prioritizes time and resources to manage efficiently.
  • Delegates when required.
  • Supervise in-house and contracted staff assigned to perform work and activities as defined herein.
  • Collaborate with HR on people-related programs. Provide input to the career development of assigned staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring

Financial and Budgetary Accountability:

  • Must be able to manage/oversee budget to departments to ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Monitor monthly financial reports and take appropriate actions to ensure adherence to the approved budget, provide regular updates and forecasts as required
  • Allocate resources effectively to achieve marketing and communication goals.

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Building productive working relationships with internal and external client groups and stakeholders in a timely, accurate and inclusive manner.
  • Actively contributes to the organization's strategic plan and departmental goals and objectives
  • Establish and maintain networking relationships and represent the organization when required.
  • Participate in all mandatory training requirements
  • Be responsible for work and ensure that all staff supervised work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience with content creation tools and content management systems (CMS).
  • Proficiency in social media marketing and analytics.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communication campaigns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong understanding of crisis communication principles.
  • Experience in media relations and working with journalists.
  • Strong understanding of digital communication channels and best practices.
  • Project management and budget management experience.
  • Ability to manage a team.
  • Organizational skills with specialized attention to detail to avoid errors and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Displays the ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving access to confidential data
  • Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check/vulnerable sector check
  • Valid driver's license with no more than 3 demerit points and daily access to a vehicle

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Master's degree would be considered an asset.
  • 7-10 years of experience in communications or a related field.
  • 5 years of management/ leadership experience.
  • Experience in public relations, marketing or communication.
  • Experience in the public sector (municipal, hospital, schoolboard, provincial) is preferred
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and knowledge of Communication programs.
