Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the largest art museums in North America, attracting approximately one million visitors annually. The AGO Collection of more than 120,000 works of art ranges from cutting-edge contemporary art to significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists and European masterpieces.

We are currently seeking a Coordinator, Direct Marketing to join our Communications and Brand team. Under the direction of the Manager, Database Marketing, the incumbent will coordinate and build direct marketing campaigns and other projects that engage AGO Members and Annual Passholders, including email, direct mail, SMS, and other direct response campaigns. They will assist with the administration and ongoing maintenance of the AGO's CRM systems and support other team and pan-gallery initiatives as needed.

What is this position responsible for?

  • Support the Manager, Database Marketing with the ongoing planning, creation, design, and deployments of Customer Relationship Direct Response Campaigns targeted towards different segments of the AGO Community:
  • Write compelling direct response copy, and leverage templates to develop and build content for email, SMS and other directing marketing and loyalty campaigns for the Membership and Annual Passholder audiences
  • Build and execute email, SMS, and direct mail campaigns and deployments for the Membership team and for other internal departments
  • Develop, create and manage lists for various campaigns, and optimize campaign effectiveness by analyzing results
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of automation workflows within the AGO's CRM system
  • Develop segmentation strategies and other campaign parameters including A/B testing and variable content to drive higher response rates
  • Engage, interact and collaborate with the Gallery's Visitor Experience (VE) team, as well as other internal teams across the gallery that engage the Member base, on direct marketing initiatives related to the planning, creation design and deployment of campaigns, including copy and content creation, audience creation and list generation, campaign design, build and deployment , etc.
  • Support the Manager, Database Marketing with the tracking, reporting and analysis of Customer Relationship Campaigns targeted towards different segments of the AGO Community
  • Track and measure all relevant campaign, website and user engagement metrics
  • Create reporting templates and present campaign results and learnings to key internal stakeholders, highlighting areas of risk and improvement for campaigns Consult with campaign owner and other relevant stakeholders on the tracking, reporting and analysis of direct marketing initiatives, including providing updates on campaigns, measuring response and conversion rates, collecting user feedback, presenting campaign results and learnings, etc. .
  • Assist with regular and ongoing maintenance of the AGO's CRM System
  • Support the creation of necessary customer database reports and dashboards
  • Develop and build business rules and customer journeys for various lifecycle campaigns for current Members and Annual Passholders
  • Support data analysis to help draw meaningful conclusions, and make recommendations based on data insights
  • Maintain data accuracy by making updates to customer records as needed
  • Support CRM related projects from concept through implementation
  • Collaborate with gallery staff to ensure that institutional Key Performance Indicators (KPIS), such as attendance, engagement and revenue targets, are met
  • General Administrative Support
  • Assists with the administrative tasks for the Membership team, including, but not limited to, the tracking, processing and filing of invoices, addressing invoice and budget related discrepancies, general data management, inventory monitoring, sending of special mailings and courier packages, etc.
  • Acts as a resource to Gallery staff, volunteers and the public regarding the Membership programs. Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

What are we looking for?

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing or a related field
  • Minimum one year experience creating and coordinating direct marketing and email campaigns, including copy writing, developing and designing visual elements for campaign tactics, and creating and presenting reporting and recommendations.
  • 2-3 years' experience working with a CRM database software
  • Well-developed knowledge of Excel computer software and of mathematical principals (including Excel experience with creating reports).
  • Working knowledge of HTML and email deployment platforms
  • Knowledge of Direct Mail, Email and SMS campaigns
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task, work independently, and interact well with a wide range of internal and external customers
  • Enthusiastic team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be comfortable and productive in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, strong attention to detail, and work well under stress
  • Must be well organized, decisive and have good follow-through skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written)
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about the work of the AGO
  • Nice to have: working knowledge and experience with Tessitura CRM systems in the museum sector
