Social Media Manager

Full-Time Contract (12 Months) - Hybrid Position.

Every day, we deliver organic produce, chef-inspired and made from scratch prepared foods, bespoke meats and more to thousands of Greater Toronto Area families.

In 2022, subscription-based organic produce and grocery delivery company Mama Earth Organics was added to the Fresh City family, bringing farmers, makers and eaters together to deliver a food experience that respects our bodies, our planet, and our shared tomorrow.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you will create social media content and strategies that boost Mama Earth's reach, drive organic customer growth, and keep our community buzzing. You should have a serious love for food, be ready to get hands-on in your kitchen, and able to make people laugh. If you love using video to tell stories and have a proven track record of planning and managing organic media campaigns while clearly communicating progress and results, this gig is for you!

What you will be doing:

Social Media Management & Production (70%)

  • Strategy Development: Create and implement social media strategies that align with Mama Earth's marketing goals - with a specific focus on increasing brand awareness and new customer acquisition.
  • Content Creation: Develop fun and engaging content (with particular emphasis on vertical video) for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Meta.
  • Community Management & Social Listening: Monitor, respond to, and engage with relevant online communities, fostering positive relationships through customer inquiries and social media comments.
  • Performance Analysis & Trend Monitoring: Track and analyze key social media metrics to measure the success of campaigns and content. Provide regular reports and insights to optimize strategies and drive continuous improvement, including staying up-to-date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing, purchasing, and customer service teams to ensure cohesive messaging and campaign integration across all channels.

Partnerships & Paid Media Assistance (20%)

  • Content Creator Partnerships: Identify and collaborate with relevant influencers and brand ambassadors to enhance brand visibility and reach.
  • Paid Media Support: Plan and create strategic content for existing customer retargeting ads to support product launches, promotions, and special initiatives.

Other Marketing Activities (10%)

  • Website Product Support: Maintain website product pages, including photography scheduling, uploads, and product descriptions.
  • Adhoc Support: A willingness to jump in on all other marketing and cross-functional initiatives as they arise.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in social media management or content creation, preferably within the e-commerce, restaurant, or food industry.
  • Skills: Proficient in social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Meta, etc.), content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Capcut, etc.).
  • Strategy: A proven track record of implementing strategies that grow relevant audiences and deliver on engagement metrics.
  • Creativity: Strong creative skills with a keen eye for design and storytelling. Ability to produce visually appealing and engaging content (especially vertical video).
  • Analytics: Experience with social media analytics and reporting tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.). Ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong copywriting skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different platforms and audiences.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and easily pivot to hop on the latest trends.
  • Foodie with Cooking Knowledge: A genuine interest and understanding of organic food, cooking techniques, and local businesses and farms.
  • Team Player: You're a team player that will work well with a small but mighty team and are willing to work closely with other cross-functional teams.
  • Legal and Compliance Knowledge: Well-informed on applicable copyright, access, and privacy laws as related to social media.

Other Details:

  • This is a full-time, 12-month contract role, with a preferred start date in October, 2024.
  • Although this position is primarily remote, you must be located in the Greater Toronto Area, and you may be expected to attend bi-weekly in-person team meetings downtown Toronto or at our office located at 19 Waterman Ave, Toronto. You may also occasionally travel within the Greater Toronto Area to visit local partners (no car required).
