MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (18-MONTH TERM - REMOTE WITHIN WINNIPEG AREA)

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, coordinate, organize and write website content that supports and showcases EMILI's strategic pillars.
  • Collaborate with communications manager, program managers, and others to plan and write web copy, including blogs, news stories, headlines, pull-quotes, and captions to support EMILI-wide activities.
  • Conceptualize and deliver engaging creative content, such as EMILI's This is Agriculture campaign to highlight the talented and diverse people working in Canada's digital agriculture sector.
  • Play a key role in supporting the planning of EMILI's annual Agriculture Enlightened conference including logistical support in the coordination of the event at the planning, event day, and post-event stages
  • Work collaboratively with communications manager to conceptualize, create, and coordinate high-quality monthly newsletter and targeted emails.
  • Review analytics, provide advice and develop solutions to effectively communicate ideas and information to EMILI's target audiences
  • Write and schedule social media content that drives traffic to EMILI's website and raises awareness of EMILI's projects and strategic pillars
  • Curate EMILI's online presence sharing helpful and meaningful partner content that aligns with the overarching content and engagement strategy
  • Research and monitor trends in industry, social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
  • Attend EMILI events/collaborations to collect images/quotes for website content, blog posts, newsletter, and social media posts in order to showcase EMILI's strategic pillars in action.
  • Research and coordinates ordering and delivery of branded swag

Desired Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • 4+ years experience in a content creation or professional writing capacity.
  • Evidence of advanced writing proficiency is essential
  • Strong understanding of communications best practices and the ability to strategically centre content around EMILI's strategic pillars
  • Good working knowledge of newsletter and web content management applications (such Mailchimp and Wordpress)
  • Good working knowledge of social media platforms such as Twitter and LinkedIn, including experience with scheduling posts
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Experience working with any of the following sectors is an asset: non-profit/industry organizations; technology industry, government-funded projects; agriculture/agri-foods industry; advanced manufacturing industry; natural sciences/biosciences industry
  • Experience working in a remote role/distributed team environment an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning in field of expertise
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and political acumen
  • Drivers license and access to a vehicle required as some events and operations occur in rural areas of Manitoba
