The Opportunity:

The Communications Coordinator supports the Student Engagement Group by coordinating projects for and between the Marketing, Events, and Publications departments. They provide administrative support to the Director of Engagement and Engagement Group as a whole. They assist managers with creating project reports, maintaining file systems, and overseeing the project calendar. The Communications Coordinator maintains a broad understanding of individual responsibilities and workloads to effectively support the group. They also assist with producing and distributing communications materials and channels to the members of the Student Association. The Communication Coordinator incorporates BCITSA's equity, diversity, and inclusion values into their work and professional relationships.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide a wide variety of administrative support to the Director of Engagement and the Engagement Group as directed and required
  • Supports the Student Engagement department by working with managers to coordinate department and group projects
  • Reviews new project submissions and coordinates a plan of completion with department managers
  • Manages files, calendar reviews and conducts administrative tasks necessary for smooth project delivery
  • Maintains project reports and reviews workloads and workflows for all employees within the department
  • Stays informed about developments in the field of communications and incorporate best practices into strategies and tactics
  • Writes content, manages submissions, manages student participation and the timely delivery of content to the media channels as required; including but not limited to the BCITSA Blog, Magazine, Website, social media assets, etc.

About You:

You are a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in project coordination and communications. You excel at juggling multiple tasks, maintaining project timelines, and ensuring seamless communication across teams. With a deep understanding of the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, you are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Your experience in administrative support, combined with your ability to produce and manage communication materials, makes you an essential asset to any engagement team. You are proactive, adaptable, and always ready to bring innovative ideas to the table to enhance the student experience.

  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Project Management, or similar
  • 1-2 years' experience with project coordination, editing, and writing in a professional setting
  • Has experience working within an organization with multiple departments and initiatives
  • Impeccable organizational skills
  • Advanced skill with written English (writing and editing)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with project management strategies and tools
  • Willing to occasionally work from other campuses
