The Communications Coordinator will support Helcim's Marketing Team in executing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance the company's public image and promote its products, services, and initiatives across traditional and digital platforms.

This role involves a variety of tasks, including media outreach, content creation, social media management, and monitoring media coverage. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a keen eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and a passion for both public relations and social media.

Typical Duties

  • Work closely with Helcim's Executive Team to assist in building and maintaining relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other PR materials.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile press clippings for internal reporting.
  • Support the creation of compelling content for press releases, blogs, social media, and the company website.
  • Assist in the development of communication materials such as brochures, newsletters, and presentations.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, media outlets, and competitor activities.
  • Create, curate, and manage content for the company's social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram).
  • Schedule and publish posts, ensuring consistent and engaging content across all platforms.
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement opportunities and respond to comments and messages.

First 30 Days:

Week 1:

  • Welcome to Helcim - your onboarding begins!
  • Coffee chats with all members of marketing
  • our Founder
  • CEO Nic to dive into what Helcim is all about.
  • You'll get an all access pass to Helcim's social media accounts and familiarize yourself with Sprout Social

Week 2:

  • Your second week begins with updating and evolving the Helcim media lists
  • You'll look at beginning to build media lists for core ideal customer profiles.
  • You now own Helcim's social media and are posting content on behalf of the marketing team!
  • You will be in charge of selecting our social listening tool and begin implementation.

Week 3:

  • You'll continue building out media lists and different communication channels for the core ICP's

Week 4:

  • Your chosen social listening tool is set up and you're able to monitor mentions of Helcim and payments industry conversations on a broader scale and inject Helcim into the conversation.
  • You've mastered the current Helcim media list and it's fully up to date

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience in PR or communications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field or related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with the Google Office Suite including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and GChat and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok).
  • Comfortable with cold outreach and developing new media opportunities from scratch.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Helcim uses a hybrid work structure where team members can work 3 days in the Calgary office (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and 2 days (Tuesday/Thursday) at home.
