The Talent Acquisition team at the St. Michael's Hospital site of Unity Health Toronto is looking to add to our current team. Unity Health Toronto is a recently integrated health network committed to our shared purpose of advancing the health of our patients and our urban communities.

As a recruitment subject matter expert, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is accountable for working with Managers (Clients) throughout the recruitment process, providing consultation throughout the process due to the multiple considerations that are required during the recruitment cycle. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for the recruitment of union and non-union mid to senior level positions. Most non-unionized roles are hard to fill and unique to healthcare environment and of technical nature. The Talent Acquisition Specialist is required to create strategic recruitment plans for most hard to fill and complex roles. The Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a key consultative role when hiring new leaders into the organization. The most complex, high demand unionized roles are those that fall under the ONA Collective Agreement. These roles can be contentious and high potential of grievances if process and Collective Agreement is not followed.

Summary of Key Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Liaising with Managers to collect required information to facilitate accurate and timely posting of new or established jobs
  • Conducting needs analysis with every hiring manager
  • Participating actively in the recruitment and selection process, including; prescreening of resumes, preparing interviewing guides, conducting interviews, etc.
  • Using knowledge of the job, job posting polices and legislated requirements to ensure job postings are an accurate reflection of the job, not over or understated
  • Managing all new RN hiring through the Health Force Ontario (HFO) Administrator ensuring correct processes are followed and all reporting requirements are met
  • Facilitating discussions and contracts with external search firms for any vacancies that are complex and unique that require recruitment search assistance
  • Creating, reviewing and providing Managers the most up to date interview guide, scoring sheets, etc.
  • Attending and participating in interview sessions; playing an active role guiding the interview panel on consensus scoring matrix. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will influence decision making on top candidate based on scores and seniority if unionized.
  • Managing and providing consultation with hiring Managers when Managers are out of practice
  • Advising union representatives of any/all Collective Agreement (CA) article that is being challenged
  • Making hiring decisions with the hiring Manager and panel members, bringing forward union obligations, utilizing high consultative skills to facilitate situations, where hiring Managers want to hire outside of practice or guidelines
  • Advising hiring Managers of external sites where jobs will be posted
  • Responding to questions/inquiries received over the telephone and/or by email, in a timely manner
  • Seeking input on sites that will attract multiple applicants, ensuring Managers are aware of and accepts the cost associated with the posting
  • Performing administrative responsibilities
  • Providing excellent/optimal customer service to respective client groups
  • Responding to questions/inquiries received over the telephone and/or by email, in a timely manner
  • Utilizing applicable Applicant Tracking System (INFOR) and HR systems to facilitate the effective management of the recruitment process, ensuring the recruitment process is followed by all Managers (Clients).

Overview of Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline is required
  • Proficient knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office , Internet, Email, ATS and HRIS applications required
  • Minimum five (5) years recruitment experience working in a customer focused recruitment department in a multi union and multi- disciplined organization required,
  • Must have experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Experience working with Collective Agreements and applying the various agreement terms, as it pertains to recruitment required
  • Proven consultative experience in the area of recruitment is required
  • Experience working with an applicant tracking system is required
  • Experience working as a team player, in a collaborative environment required
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment, with time sensitive deadlines
  • Experience in providing day-to-day guidance to other members of the team
  • Must have influencing and negotiating experience and skills
  • Experience working with external search firms and asset
  • Outstanding interpersonal, relationship building, communication and customer focus skills
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to quickly assimilate the organizations¿ philosophy, culture, mission, values, goals and objectives into the daily approach to human resources management
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to pay attention to detail required
  • Strong project management skills to plan, organize and coordinate various activities and manage competing priorities and balance multiple, disparate tasks required
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required
