SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday with flexible hours, including some evening and weekend work

REPORTS TO: Communications and Fund Development Manager

COMPENSATION: $27.54 - $31.61 per hour (Grid 11 as per collective agreement)

ABOUT THE JOB

We're looking for a Communications Coordinator who is efficient in managing and scheduling social media, highly skilled in social media marketing strategy, and a pro at crafting compelling copy with SEO in mind. If this sounds like you, join our team and help shape our brand's online presence! Here are the key responsibility areas for this role:

Social Media Management:

  • Develop and manage a social media calendar.
  • Schedule and post content across platforms.
  • Engage with followers and respond to inquiries.
  • Apply SEO best practices to social media content.
  • Analyze performance data and generate reports.

Content Creation:

  • Capture and create content at ICS program sites.
  • Coordinate content creation with ICS' various programs.
  • Design graphics and videos using Canva and other relevant programs.
  • Write captions, scripts, and copy for social media.

Other:

  • Participate in strategy sessions with the Communications team.
  • Assist with website updates and help ensure brand consistency.
  • Stay updated on social media trends and best practices.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE

  • Degree (preferred) or Diploma in a relevant field (e.g., marketing, public relations, social media marketing, or business).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a role focused on social media content creation, marketing, and brand awareness.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES

  • Strong public relations and interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively interact with staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and the public.
  • Ability to engage individuals with lived experience and translate their perspectives into meaningful content.
  • Expertise in social media marketing strategy and search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Proficiency in using content creation tools like Canva, CapCut, and other social media management software.
  • Excellent writing skills for scripts, social media posts, and other copywriting needs.
  • Audiovisual production skills, including content capture and editing.
  • High level of comfort in front of the camera, with the ability to be featured in visual marketing content.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs and the ability to quickly learn new technological tools and systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently within a multi-departmental complex environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BC Class 5 or 7N Driving License and safe driving record
  • Access to a reliable personal vehicle with business use and $5 million liability insurance. (reimbursement available)
  • Following training is required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certification is an asset: Privacy and Information Sharing, Cybersecurity, Anti-Bullying and Harassment.
  • Background checks through the BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General and RCMP are required. (reimbursement of costs with satisfactory result and receipt provided)
  • This job requires union membership with a 1.85% union due deducted from pay.
