ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is responsible for the graphic design of communication products for assigned clients, providing multimedia design guidance, expertise, and graphic material development for print, web and social media, marketing projects and departmental communication projects and initiatives. Works closely with departmental programs and internal partners to ensure communication products follow Regional and Department brand guidelines and accessibility standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

? Collaborates/works with partners and follows the corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction related to this function.

? Conceptualizes and designs/develops various departmental communication products and tools to promote and support program activities.

? Provides consultation to management and staff related to multimedia and/or graphic design, effective presentation of information and methods of conveying intended messages to target audience(s).

? Provides graphic design and multimedia expertise to support continuity and consistency of print media and digital media, including video.

? Provides conventional and digital photography services or consults with other agencies for images or designs for assigned projects.

? Develops and recommends design strategies and advises on new technologies and/or materials.

? Coordinates production of communications materials, including obtaining quotes, preparing camera-ready artwork.

? Ensures compliance and alignment with York Region's brand guidelines and ensures legislated regulations and standards are followed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

? Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.

? Minimum three (3) years experience in graphic design with demonstrated experience applying multimedia design principals and using a wide variety of communication strategies.

? Strong working knowledge of traditional and new marketing concepts, communications technologies, and broad knowledge of multimedia design technology.

? Ability to apply the principles of graphic design and website knowledge to support and enhance marketing initiatives.

? Knowledge and demonstrated ability in computerized design and related software.

? Demonstrated ability in the Region's core competencies.

? Advanced skills in virtual platforms and MS Office Suite.

? Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability by adjusting approaches, as needed, and work on multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.

? Strong ability to develop relationships and work in a welcoming and inclusive environment, where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can develop to their full potential.

? Ability to work independently and with teams and with ability to manage competing priorities.

? Ability to travel to offsite locations, as required.

? Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
