The role and who you are

This role is for someone who is passionate about emerging technology and innovative, modern marketing strategies. As a high-growth, B2B tech company, you will have the ability to take on significant responsibility across all marketing disciplines - from building brand awareness, demand generation and salesforce enablement. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for defining and leading a multifaceted lifecycle marketing strategy. You won't be starting from scratch, but you'll have a lot of opportunity to build and shape our overall strategy, and then execute on it. We are looking for someone who is a builder and wants to dive in - you have both experience in building marketing strategies from the ground up, the tactical skills to execute, and the experience to understand impact and when iteration is required. You will oversee the work of external marketing providers along with leading decisions on how to improve how our marketing is delivered. Over time you will build an in-house marketing team to effectively drive our business objectives. You have relevant experience managing and executing marketing tactics at B2B and enterprise startups, but you also love to learn and continue to push yourself. You are an empowering people manager, have a high EQ, and you love to roll up your sleeves alongside your team.

How you'll contribute

  • You'll become an expert on the market, our competition, our customers, industry pain points and how our solutions address those pain points
  • You'll develop a deep understanding of the buyers and buying stages across public and private sector prospects
  • You'll develop and propose our marketing strategy with the goal of maximizing the return on our investment
  • You'll take our great reputation, with a core group of big customers who love us, and extend it to build fantastic brand awareness in our industry
  • You'll plan, manage and execute our marketing campaigns, programs, and initiatives to help generate leads, opportunities, and ultimately revenue
  • You'll oversee any third party provides of marketing services that can help you deliver on your priorities
  • You'll collaborate closely with the sales to build collateral, such as client presentations, case studies and webinar content
  • You'll manage new product launches and support product development based on innovation, brand development, market trends, competitive research, customer feedback and consumer research and positioning.
  • You'll measure the effectiveness of all campaigns and activities to guide strategy and develop reports

We're looking for someone with

  • 10+ years of marketing experience with increasing responsibility and a focus on B2B
  • Prior marketing management experience in a successful, rapidly scaling B2B start-up environment
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience building new B2B brands by leveraging Tradeshows, PR, industry thought leadership and other tactics
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience supporting B2B Sales teams with demand generation - including delivering email nurture campaigns, outbound digital campaigns, webinars, and other tactics. You will have a deep understanding and familiarity with content-based marketing to drive high intent leads to conversion
  • A data and process driven approach to marketing, including ability to develop and track key KPIs which can be used to optimize marketing investment
  • Experience in managing marketing budgets, setting priorities, and articulating a clear and concise marketing strategy
  • Relevant experience in creating and scaling end to end channel marketing programs across customer lifecycle stages is preferred
  • Experience building a marketing team from scratch is an asset
  • An ability to travel on a monthly basis (or more frequently if local) to our headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta
