POSITION SUMMARY

Are you an exceptional UI Designer who would love to support the health and well-being of your fellow Manitobans? Come join our expanding team! Manitoba Blue Cross is looking for an experienced designer with a talent for producing intuitive user experiences that ensure our customers navigate our online services with ease.

As the UI Designer, you will play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining our website, stakeholder accounts and various online applications. In addition, you will act as a bridge between the design and development worlds, ensuring an optimal user experience by executing strong visual design and code.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains user interfaces that facilitate effective interaction between the user and the program, app or machine through contrasting visuals, clean design and responsiveness.
  • Builds design applications and websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Creates tools that improve site interaction on multiple browser applications.
  • Manages software workflow.
  • Follows SEO best practices and accessibility standards.
  • Fixes code bugs and tests for usability to ensure applications provide best user experience.
  • Collaborates with the creative team to ensure brand consistency.
  • Conceptualizes original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks.
  • Illustrates design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps.
  • Conducts user research, evaluates feedback and incorporates, as necessary, to provide an essential foundation for design strategy and create an optimal experience for users.
  • Establishes and promotes design guidelines, best practices and standards.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots and assists with UX issues.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Dedicated to the principles of exceptional service; committed to anticipating and responding to the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • University degree/college diploma in website design/development, related fields or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a UI Designer role with a portfolio of work provided upon request.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, Photoshop and Experience Designer (XD).
  • Adept at optimizing images and other assets for web properties.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment; focused on process and results; excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment, including interdepartmental and project teams.
  • Experience creating storyboards and site mapping.
  • Remain current with UI trends, design strategy and technology.
  • Experience or knowledge of the following is an asset:
  • UX Design
  • Webflow or other content management systems
  • JIRA software
  • Graphic design
  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
  • Microsoft Office 365 suite and SharePoint
  • Typescript
