The Opportunity: The Marketing Manager will plan and execute the targeted, cost efficient annual Marketing Plan for the center that utilizes marketing funds to increase traffic, increase merchants' sales, and increase market share within a specified trade area. This role will report directly to the General Manager, with direction and guidance from the National Director, Marketing and Digital Strategy.
What You Will Do:
Marketing & Advertising
- Prepare annual marketing plan and execute strategies and tactics accordingly
- Promote the shopping center consistent with established goals and revenue objectives
- Develop short and long-term marketing strategies
- Plan and execute traffic and merchandising events designed to appeal to the property's key target segments and contribute to Centre sales.
- Plan and execute appropriate advertising campaigns, digital / social media strategy, merchandising events, promotional activities, and public relations programs
- Organize a communication platform to promote key events and special promotions.
- Co-ordinate tenant and customer relations and implement comprehensive communications strategy
- Co-ordinate & administrate specialty leasing activities directly or with assigned Specialty Leasing Manager as applicable.
- Develop a media relations plan and strategy
- Negotiate media and contracts as applicable
- Maintain the Centre's web site to ensure the design and content are current, correct and on brand.
- Project the center's image in line with BGO's Services posture as a good corporate citizen and business leader in the community
- Enhance and foster strong merchant relationships and participation levels
- Manage a professional agenc(ies) to develop a distinctive campaign and oversee the successful execution of the Centre's creative and message strategies to create brand awareness and alliance; promote special events and key retail periods; and highlight retailers.
- Stay abreast of current new media opportunities and community programming to ensure program is nimble and reactive to community needs
- Capitalize on timely trends and current culture through community initiatives and promotions.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Prepare promotion fund budget and support schedules including control of funds through established accounts payable procedures
- Code and process center marketing payables and analyze / explain variances
- Use all data and analytics available to shape the strategy for and measure the results of activities regularly, reporting monthly to the GM and National Director, Marketing and Digital Strategy
Management
- Work co-operatively with other management staff and provide leadership and direction to mall service staff
- Foster positive tenant, consumer, community and philanthropic relationships
- Initiate market research programs and keep current on market area changes, consumer and business trends as well as industry and competitive activities
- Keep management office, mall staff and merchants informed of advertising schedules, mall events, etc.
- Plan and execute special projects as required
Sustainability
- Embrace and pro-actively support BGO's culture of Responsible Property Investing, including environmental sustainability, and corporate and social responsibility.
Who You Are:
- Related post-secondary diploma or university degree
- Minimum 5 years of marketing or related experience
- Knowledge of retail industry and branding tactics an asset
- Reliable transportation and ability to actively participate in mall events and set up
- Organizational/Multi-Task Skills - Ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, and adapt to new ideas and constant changes
- Computer Skills - Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and multiple graphic/publisher programs. Well versed in Social Marketing opportunities
- Social Media - Experience with the implementation and management of Social Media.
- Police Clearance - A criminal verification check is required for employment
