About Invictus Games 2025:
The Invictus Games is a biennial international adaptive sporting competition for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world. Through the power of sport, the Games inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who have served their country.
The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will take place from February 8 to 16, 2025, on the traditional territories of the Lil ̓ wat7 ú l (L í l ̓ wat), x ʷ m ə θ k ʷə y ̓ə m (Musqueam), S ḵ wx ̱ w ú 7mesh (Squamish) and s ə lilw ə ta ɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Over 500 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and Veterans from more than 20 nations are set to compete in a wide range of adaptive sports, including adaptive winter sports, for the first time in Invictus Games history.
The Vancouver Whistler Games Corporation (VWGC) is a Canadian not-for-profit organization established to organize and host the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
The Role
The Content Marketing Strategist at the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 presented by ATCO and Boeing is responsible for the strategic development of marketing content that aligns with our overall strategic Marketing and Communications plan. This role focuses on the planning for and oversight of the production of high-quality, engaging, and impactful content across various communications platforms. The Content Marketing Strategist will bring strong demonstrated experience in strategy development and execution, a passion for storytelling and will thrive on collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive engagement and relevant audience growth, all while maintaining the organization's brand identity and voice.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Create and implement a comprehensive content marketing strategy aligned with the goals and objectives of the Invictus Games 2025.
- Oversee the end-to-end social media management process, from initial strategy development to content planning, and performance measurement, working directly with the digital communications coordinator responsible for the day-to-day updating of the content calendar, creating and posting content and community management.?
- Identify target audiences and tailor content to resonate with diverse stakeholders, including competitors, veterans and service members, families, sponsors, and the general public.
- Craft compelling narratives, through the production of high-quality, engaging, and relevant content across various channels, including social media, blogs, newsletters, videos, and more.
- Plan and develop content calendar that promotes our storytelling efforts that aligns with brand guidelines and maintains the integrity of our Invictus Games 2025 brand
- Develop and ensure the strategic execution of social media campaigns to increase brand awareness and drive engagement, audience growth and directly contribute to marketing KPIs
- Monitor social media trends and conversations to inform content strategy and drive community engagement.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, freelance contributors, brand ambassadors and volunteers to generate a wide range of content.
- A leading (high contributing) member of the team working with external suppliers to create video and photography assets to support communications across various channels.?
- Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, communications, partnerships, community engagement, and more to understand their content needs and align with organizational goals.
- Coordinate with partners & sponsors, and other stakeholders to amplify content reach and impact.
- Research and gather information from various sources to curate content that supports the IG25's initiatives, highlights success stories, and raises awareness.
- Track and analyze content performance metrics, including reach, engagement, and conversion rates, using analytics tools. Use insights to optimize content strategies and improve audience targeting.
Qualifications, Skills, Competencies:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, marketing, graphic design, videography, photography, journalism or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent design, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Creative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, and analytics tools.
- Proven experience with SEO, keyword research, and content optimization.
- 5+ years experience in content creation for social media channels, websites, newsletters, digital marketing and other communications channels.??
- Ability to take concepts and ideas and create visual representations across all mediums
- Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to drive mutual success for Invictus Games and respective sponsors' brands.
- Experience working with design, photo and video editing platforms.
- Familiarity?with content management platforms.
- Experience in analyzing content performance using analytics tools and driving actionable insights
- A team-first work ethic, thriving in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines and effectively managing a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in a MS Office 365 environment
- Knowledge of the Invictus Games, adaptive sports, and the military community.
- Experience working in the sports, non-profit, or events industry is an asset.
- Fluency (written & verbal) in French is an asset.
