The Communications Advisor, working within internal communications, is responsible for developing and implementing multi-faceted communications plans and outreach activities to broaden awareness and support for key strategic and operational priorities and objectives at Ontario Health. Working closely with internal stakeholders, the position also contributes to a better understanding of health care policy and delivery contexts to ensure the value, the relevance and utility of our communications products and vehicles.

Here is what you will be doing:

Develop, implement and monitor/measure integrated communications plans and content development strategies that support and align with the overall Ontario Health mandate, Annual Business Plan and operational objectives.

Create high-quality internal communication strategies and ensure key deliverables are achieved and measured, including the writing and editing of communication plans, materials, presentation content and web copy - ensuring a brand appropriate and consistent tone and voice.

Build strong supportive relationships with internal business and portfolio partners for effective communications delivery; share communications best practices and handle tactical assignments with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced but complex environment.

Work with internal business partners to determine corporate communications priorities, manage communications specific workflows and deliver multiple communications initiatives effectively and on time.

Act as a subject matter expert in communications, based on best practice learnings, and provide expertise and advice across the organization to ensure products, information, guidance and resources are widely available, known and utilized.

Develop a strong understanding of health care issues in Ontario in order to inform communications strategies.

Work alongside other communication team members to support goals and objectives related to projects and initiatives

Other duties may be assigned within the scope of this position.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations/marketing or a related field with experience developing communication plans for corporate project and initiatives

Minimum 5+ years of communications or related work experience

Experience working in a large-scale organization, public sector experience preferred

Experience working in project teams to deliver on communications plans and strategies

Health care experience would be an asset

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent understanding of communication principles, processes and stakeholder relations

A strong writer and editor, specifically in preparing engaging content for a wide variety of target audiences and communications vehicles

Communication planning and project management skills with an ability to work well with diverse teams with competing priorities across a complex organization

High degree of collaboration and the ability to influence to achieve program/project objectives while protecting/enhancing the organizational brand

Strong storytelling experience and aligning strategies to the overall corporate narrative

Experience creating communications plans, strategies, key messaging, for programs or services

Well versed in communications tools

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office tools (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines, under pressure, as part of a team

Ability to multi-task and have good organizational and time management skills

Sound judgement, discretion and decision-making ability

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and experience to work across all levels

Commitment to customer service

Bilingualism is an asset
