Bring your impactful communications to our impactful portfolios. We're expanding and need a Senior Associate, Communications to meet growing business demands. ROLE DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Head of Reporting and Communications, the Senior Associate, Communications works across all teams to communicate the impact of our work and our impact portfolios to our clients and prospective clients - delivering clear, compelling communications materials. The work is varied, involving planning, writing, editing, designing, analyzing, amplifying and marketing. A creative, competent behind-the-scenes doer, the Senior Associate, Communications both leads projects and learns from others, shares skills and gains new ones, works on their own and with others. In all cases, they're held accountable to deliver quality work that meets audience needs and our needs.

This is a new role for us, an expansion of our team. There's lots to do and we're excited to work with the new hire to focus the tasks around their skills and career interests. This is a great job for an experienced communicator who is excited to grow alongside us and help a small team do big things.

PRIMARY DUTIES

We expect the job will be mostly communications work, with up to a third of time spent on marketing (with that split dependent on the successful applicant's skillset).

The communications tasks will be focused on helping to deliver current communications materials:

  • Work with teammates to write, edit and design client-facing and public-facing purpose-driven communications materials centered around the audience. Our current key materials are quarterly and annual reports about client impact portfolios and our impact funds, investment memos, web content, blog posts, social content and a monthly newsletter. Creating these materials may involve working with the Senior Associate, Impact Reporting on analysis and visualization. We expect the Senior Associate, Communications to take a leadership role in delivering some of these materials, supported by the Head, Reporting and Communications
  • Support all teams by designing and editing a range of smaller reports, presentations and documents
  • Implement enhancements to our visual identity, and support colleagues to operationalize those enhancements
  • Gather, analyze and report on communications metrics

The core marketing work is focused on showcasing our leadership and the value and effectiveness of our work:

  • Work with the Head of Reporting and Communications and the Head of Relationship Management to design and deliver a marketing plan to help us reach new audiences. Implementing that plan likely involves:
  • Creating advertising (for social, for sectors newsletters and magazine)
  • Showcasing our leadership in impact portfolio management and impact measurement, through new pitch decks, new reports and creative visualizations
  • Increasing our presence on social media, particularly during key events for the team

QUALIFICATIONS

On your resume, we ask that you demonstrate the following:

  • Training, a degree and/or at least five years of relevant work experience in communications, editing, design work or similar
  • Experience with reader-focused, reader-responsive communications
  • Interest in and some knowledge of impact investing, institutional investments and/or investor relations
  • Experience delivering public-facing engaging communications/marketing as well as more narrow-focused reporting-style communications
  • Experience analyzing data/information and communicating your analysis
  • Design experience
  • Software experience, whether web, database, design or writing tools
  • Proficiency in English; proficiency in French is considered an asset
  • That you are legally able to work in Canada

  • Your understanding of the systemic problems we're trying to tackle through impact investing
  • Your ability to think critically, solve problems and communicate solutions

  • Your interest in undertaking a wide variety of tasks. Not ever-changing! But also not set and static
  • Your comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving and self-directed work environment

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 a year plus bonus

Expected Start Date: November 2024
