General Purpose
Reporting to the Assistant Dean (Strategic Partnerships and Societal Impact) and working closely with the Leadership Team in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics (Lang), the Manager, Marketing and Communications is responsible for conceptualizing, planning and implementing communication, promotions, and event strategies to enhance and publicize the distinctiveness, importance and relevance of Lang's programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Enhance the profile of Lang and clearly illustrate how Lang is advancing its mission to build "Leaders for a Sustainable World"
- Positioning and branding of Lang, including: creating an annual strategic communications plan; developing persuasive communications and marketing messages and digital communications strategies for various College constituencies; and managing day-to-day communications on behalf of the Dean
- Utilize various approaches as part of this strategy, including web based communication, social media, email, printed publications, public presentations, events and other innovative methods
- Enhance internal and external communications, managing Lang's website, social media platforms and providing expertise and implementing College-wide standards for academic related publications, exhibits and event communications
- Reposibility for the team that plans, manages and promotes events and works collaboratively with Lang's academic units, to supporting their event planning and promotional activities. Events include: student recruitment and orientation activities, case competitions, networking and career fairs, awards dinners and receptions, faculty and staff retreats, community seminars and open-houses, convocation and graduation celebrations, and alumni activities (both on and off-campus).
Requirements
- An Undergraduate degree in journalism, marketing or communications, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An excellent understanding of higher education institutions is preferred.
- Experience in digital marketing, media relations, publishing and event planning would be a significant asset.
- Experience in the development of a communications strategy.
- Excellent organizational skills, superb communication skills and highly-developed interpersonal skills.
- The ability to demonstrate professional judgement and the ability to work both pro-actively and re-actively under tight time-frames and deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office software, web development and design, and digital communications would be an asset.
