We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual for the position of Communications and Policy Lead with Mental Health Partners (MHP), based out of Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. This role will work closely with Mental Health Partners' various sub-committees, reporting directly to the Executive Director, Mental Health Partners, and contributing to the advancement of key initiatives within the organization.
Communications
- Develop and execute the writing of all publications, including annual reports, e-newsletters, and online content to ensure a unified public-facing mental health voice amongst MHP members
- Work with the MHP Policy and Communications Committee to develop, implement, and evaluate a mental health communication, media relations, and social media strategy
- Ensure the MHP's website is updated on a regular basis
- Create social channels and monitor engagement; create a social media calendar
- Create and support proactive media, community, and stakeholder relations activities
- Provide virtual and on-site event support
Policy
- Develop and deliver annual provincial pre-budget submissions in line with Ministry of Finance timelines as well as prepare other written communications such as reports, presentations, and letters
- Develop position statements in response to government legislation, policies, etc.
- Conduct research and analysis on public policy issues to identify opportunities and challenges that the Partners are likely to face, now and in the future
- Organize annual Queen's Park Day and develop communications materials
The candidate will bring:
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Undergraduate degree/diploma in communications/public affairs/related discipline or a combination of education, experience, or other relevant training
- 3-5 years' relevant work experience; experience in the healthcare sector is considered an asset
- Considerable experience writing and editing various communications vehicles, e.g., online, social media platforms
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience developing and implementing successful social media strategies
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information in a simple and compelling way
- Knowledge of the provincial healthcare and government landscapes is an asset
- Experience preparing briefing material/notes
- Exceptional project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with ease
- Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills
MHP are a collective of the province's specialized hospital providers of mental health and substance use care. We do this by mobilizing our collective strengths in innovation, infrastructure, clinical interventions, research and education so Ontarians with the most complex mental health and substance use conditions can have better outcomes.
An Executive Committee comprised of the CEOs of the nine partner organizations governs MHP. It is supported by a Secretariat headed by an Executive Director that is accountable to the Committee.
