Key functions include but are not limited to:

Strategic Direction & Initiatives

  • Execute on creative communication strategies, plans and tactics which support BluEarth's strategic plan and goals and manage related budgets
  • Oversee the consistent execution of BluEarth brand across all mediums to uphold our brand integrity, reputation and identity, one of BluEarth's most valuable assets
  • Work closely with the Executive team to provide ongoing communications support and continuously update corporate graphics/ brochures/ presentations and other communications materials as needed

Digital Communications

  • Strategic management, maintenance, and use of BluEarth's corporate website, and social media accounts to achieve corporate objectives
  • Oversee the execution of the digital media strategy and content calendar in close consultation with the Communications Coordinator

Media Relations & Crisis Communications

  • Maintain media and journalist relationships at the local, provincial, state, and national levels
  • Monitor all media coverage of the company as well as industry headlines and support strategic lobbying or other policy related communications efforts
  • Draft, review and approve all external media opportunities including coordination of interviews, spokespeople and key messages
  • Act as a key member of the Corporate Emergency Response team, ensuring the execution of our crisis communications plan in an incident or crisis event

Internal Communications

  • Lead internal communications such as quarterly townhall meetings, messages from the CEO and other Executive Team members, as well as sensitive HR- or corporate-related messaging when required
  • Oversee the successful execution of BluEarth's intranet platform ensuring consistent employee engagement, compelling stories about our purpose, brand, people, and culture, and up-to-date, easy to navigate content.

Project Communications

  • Work closely with Development and Regulatory teams to support the execution of project communication plans targeting a variety of audiences, including landowners, community members, Indigenous Peoples /First Nations, government, etc.
  • Support strategic communications and messaging for external events such as public open houses, landowner and community events, project milestone celebrations
  • Support the implementation of BluEarth's corporate giving program to support project objectives

ESG Program

  • Oversee the development and implementation of annual data collection and subject matter reviews
  • Lead the drafting, organization and delivery of BluEarth's annual ESG Report including coordination with external design firms
  • Support DIF's ESG reporting process as required by BluEarth's shareholder

Other Duties

  • Uphold all aspects of BluEarth's Health, Safety & Environmental policies, practices, and programs; and
  • Uphold BluEarth's values and consistently enhance the image and reputation of the Company.

Education

  • A Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

Experience

  • A minimum of seven years' experience in a communications role preferably in renewable energy, resource development, utilities, or a related business sector
  • Experience developing tactical communications strategies, and demonstrated success in execution of those strategies
  • Experience working with mainstream media, and in crisis management planning and response
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks and trends

Personal Characteristics & Skills

  • Familiarity with web development software such as Word Press, or similar
  • Strong literacy in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Social Media platforms
  • Ability to build relationships and earn the trust of others
  • Professional, respectful, and charismatic, with a great sense of humour
  • Strong writing ability across a wide range of mediums (print, advertising, media relations, web, social media, and related technology)
  • Highly motivated, action oriented, and results driven with a ?can do' attitude
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, team environment managing concurrent projects with varying deadlines
  • Able to exercise good judgement, show initiative, and be proactive
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the role and BluEarth

Job Requirements

  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • Ability to work outside regular working hours when required
  • Ability to travel to US when required
