The Sr. Director, Marketing is responsible for the development and implementation of the company's marketing strategy in conjunction with the Brand Marketing Managers, E-Commerce Marketing Managers, and Product Managers. This includes planning and directing development of brand-building programs including advertising, public relations, sponsorship, trade shows, merchandising, promotions, packaging, and trade marketing. This person oversees market research for all of LG, as well as Web programs. The Sr. Director, Marketing is responsible for managing LG Canada's marketing organization that works closely with divisional sales teams, U.S. and global headquarters. The incumbent will effectively oversee the marketing of the company's products to defined target segments based on consumer purchase behaviors and an understanding of the demographic and psychographic profiles of targeted consumers. In addition, this individual will ensure all products and all touch points to the consumer are consistent with the company's marketing/messaging strategy, and brand and product strategy. The Sr. Director Marketing may also be required to assist as necessary with the implementation of E-Commerce.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Planning

  • Overseeing the development of a long-range plan for the brand. Responsible for development of annual planning process;
  • Sponsor and owner of the New Product Introduction Process (NPI Process).

Product Marketing

  • Oversee and direct the strategic approach across all business units to ladder up to the master brand;
  • Oversee and direct the annual brand planning and business progress;
  • Oversee and direct the development of New Product Introductions;
  • Sponsor of the product introduction process for the organization.

Corporate Marketing

  • Responsible for corporate reputation and public relations management;
  • Oversee digital marketing strategies and executions (both media and social);
  • Oversee corporate marketing sponsorship, and participate in contract negotiations and rights management.

Media Buying and Agency Management

  • Responsible for all Media purchase approvals and sign offs;
  • Lead for agency selection and performance management including compensation modeling, and annual contract negotiations;
  • Responsible for management and annual agreements and resource allocation.

Digital Marketing E-Commerce Support

  • Develop & deliver web strategies & plans to support E-Commerce business operations;
  • Build integrated marketing strategy to optimize full funnel consumer journey, driving brand awareness and nurturing quality leads for conversions.

Budget Management

  • Responsible for the development of annual budget;
  • Oversee and direct budget allocation by business unit and medium;
  • Oversee and direct budget phasing strategy to manage corporate P&L (not total P&L responsibility).

Team Management and Retention

  • Responsible for the development and building of the Canadian marketing organization;
  • Responsible for the development and management of annual KPI's;
  • Mandated to build a winning culture and strong retention model.

Strategy

  • Work with the senior management team to develop and execute marketing strategies, tactics and plans for the business and ensure they are consistent with the overarching corporate strategy;
  • Create a branding strategy that leverages the core strengths of the brand while positioning it for future growth and ensuring all touchpoints to the consumer properly execute on the company's brand strategy;
  • Gather relevant data for customer segments and actively monitor and analyze this data to refine marketing strategy and generate consumer insights;
  • Goal setting, performance evaluation and compensation, assignment and training of marketing personnel including leadership development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • An undergraduate degree is required;
  • Minimum of 10 years of brand management experience with demonstrated record of positive business results;
  • Minimum of 7 years of specialized digital and e-commerce marketing experience;
  • Extensive consumer marketing experience, specifically in the areas of targeting; brand strategy and positioning; concept development and testing; marketing plan development, execution and post-analysis; testing, evaluating and advocating breakthrough new marketing programs;
  • Prior experience managing and energizing a broad range of advertising, media, promotion and public relations agencies;
  • Strong relationship management skills, both internal and external, including the ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints;
  • A history of setting strategy and of building and leading an organization of significant size and scale;
  • A track record of leading marketing efforts;
  • History of presenting fresh perspective to existing industries and products;
  • Strong management capabilities demonstrated through the implementation of company-wide initiatives and implementations within project timelines and budget;
  • Strong analytical skills in applying principles of logic or scientific thinking, including advanced mathematical concepts, to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems;
  • Superior language skills in making effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to senior management, board of directors and other entities;
  • The ability to think beyond classical marketing parameters to create new approaches and solutions;
  • Responsive to changes in the business environment and proactively shifts roles and priorities to meet these changes.
