The Opportunity:
As a Social Media and Community Engagement Coordinator, you will bring creativity and passion to drive meaningful online engagement with our community. Using your tech-savvy skills, you will manage our social media presence, share impactful stories, and support YMCA events and programs. This position operates primarily Monday to Friday, with event support required on evenings and weekends as needed; and you will report to the Manager of Marketing and Communications.
Responsibilities:
- Foster an inclusive online community by engaging with followers, responding to messages, and encouraging participation.
- Develop, design, and post content that reflects YMCA programs, values, and impactful community stories, using mobile photography to capture key moments.
- Track social media performance, providing insights and recommendations to enhance engagement strategies.
- Collaborate across departments to plan, promote, and cover events, sharing real-time updates and creating promotional materials.
- Manage administrative tasks, update the website with accurate event and program information, and ensure smooth online communication.
- Prepare and distribute newsletters using pre-designed templates, ensuring consistent communication with our audience.
- Be available to support events during occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma required; a Marketing diploma or relevant courses is an asset.
- Experience: Basic knowledge of social media management (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Canva and familiarity with content creation tools.
- Photography: Experience with mobile photography; professional camera experience is an asset.
- Organization: Strong multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Flexibility: Available for occasional evenings and weekends.
- Driver's License: Required for travel to various sites.
- Other: Employment is contingent on a clean Criminal Record Check.
