Job Summary:

As a key member of the D2L.com web experience team you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an engaging brand presence on the web. Our website is a fundamental part of D2L's marketing plans, and you will help shape that experience. We're looking for a team oriented, self-starting individual that has a thirst for new challenges. You will make data driven decisions to help improve our sites experience to ensure optimal market impact.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Collaborate with a team of designers, marketers and developers to bring concepts to life using cutting-edge technologies
  • Gather and refine specifications/requirements based on technical needs
  • Maintain, expand, and scale D2L sites
  • Optimize site for speed, scalability and SEO
  • Assist in troubleshooting code and compatibility issues across different browsers and platforms
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies/industry trends, apply them to operations and activities, and share your knowledge with the team

What You'll Bring to the Role:

  • 3 - 5 years' experience building highly engaging and interactive websites
  • Proficiency with/knowledge of the following:
  • HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SCSS, SQL, PHP
  • WordPress theme and/or Plugin development
  • Google Analytics or similar
  • Google Tag Manager
  • MVC Frameworks like React, Angular, Vue, etc.
  • Photoshop (slicing and basic manipulations for implementation in code)
  • Understanding of best practice in:
  • Web and accessibility standards
  • User experience and user interface design
  • Web security
  • Ability to perform cross-browser testing of web pages and code
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills to effectively read code, identify bugs, investigate the problem and take a pragmatic approach to solving the issue
  • Collaborative attitude to contribute toward team goals, with the ability to execute work independently
  • Strong organization, time management and project management skills to manage multiple websites simultaneously
  • Analytical thinking skills think beyond the initial request to find opportunities to provide a larger impact on a project
  • Excellent understanding of data to use insights and performance metrics to make informed decisions, prioritize optimization efforts, and focus on continuous improvement
