The Team

The Communications and Engagement team in the newly established Office of the Superintendent of Health Profession and Occupation Oversight is a dynamic and collaborative group dedicated to supporting public safety. Once fully staffed, this team of 21 will work together to oversee the corporate communications program for the Office, which leads Canada's first oversight initiative for health profession and occupation regulatory colleges. This is a unique opportunity to join a team at the forefront of regulatory change, building engagement with partners and supporting impactful work in health profession oversight.

The Role

As Communications and Engagement Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in developing a communications program that supports the Office of the Superintendent of Health Profession and Occupation Oversight's mission to ensure public safety and accountability within health profession regulatory colleges. This role involves setting high standards for publications, leading communications activities, and offering strategic advice to executive leadership on media relations, digital communications, and issue management. This is a unique chance to shape and launch a new program, fostering transparency and trust with the public and supporting a health care system that is safe and equitable for all.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations) or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered*.
  • Significant experience in project management in a communications role, including planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating success of communications activities.
  • Experience at a senior level leading major projects of large scale and complexity that have multiple project delivery components.

*Relevant Experience

  • Professional experience in communications, public relations, media relations, journalism or a related field.
  • Experience and ability to prepare and draft a variety of communication materials including corporate communications plans, annual reports, communications and media relations strategies, reports and presentation materials.
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships with executive-level external partners.
  • Experience establishing relationships with media and journalists.
  • Experience working in or with government, the public sector, and/or an independent office.

About this Position:

There is one (1) full time permanent position available.

This position is currently under review for exclusion.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.
