Under the supervision of the Media Program Director, the Communications Lead Photographer will photograph or film participants for the various summer programs offered and produce weekly slideshows or other program materials as requested. Overseeing the Communications team and working co-operatively with Program Directors and Instructors, the Lead Communications Photographer will engage participants with enthusiasm and energy making photo and video opportunities fun for everyone. The Lead Communications Photographers will also provide instruction and direction to Communications Volunteers.
WHAT IS AMAZING ABOUT THIS JOB:
- Oversee Camp Communications team: Photographers, Videographers and Social Media Content Creator to ensure photo galleries, social media platforms are updated and create weekly slide show
- Work closely with summer program staff to photograph or film participants and/or produce edited photographs and footage for weekly slideshows and web galleries
- Strong organizational capabilities and ability to direct team to meet deadlines
- Work cooperatively and participate in program activities where required
- Provide leadership, training and guidance to Communications Volunteers
- Observe and promote all rules and regulations established for the program to include Appleby's Mutual Respect policy
- Seek assistance and advice from the Director of Summer Media Programs or appointed supervisor and ensure all decisions made have the appropriate approvals
- Participate in all required training related to health and safety and for photography equipment and software
YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
- Have successfully completed a minimum of 3rd year post-secondary education (photography/film considered an asset) and/or full-time professional photography/film experience
- Possess experience in photography with the energy and enthusiasm to make participants and instructors enjoy being filmed/ photographed
- Are well versed with photography experience including using a DSLR camera (Canon equipment used) and video equipment required. Go-Pro knowledge an asset.
- Can quickly learn graphics software through online and supervised training
- Have leadership experience in a similar camp/recreation program setting is an asset
- Acquired strong knowledge of graphics and video-editing software including Lightroom, Premiere, Photoshop, Final Cut, Photodex Proshow and online web galleries (such as SmugMug) is required.
- Can work efficiently to meet deadlines
- Have good communication skills
- Have valid Standard First Aid and CPR - C or higher

WORK SCHEDULE
- Training & Pre-Camp
- Friday May 30, 2025-Evening
- Saturday May 31 and Sun June 1, 2025-Full Day
- Saturday June 14, 2025-Full Day
- Sunday June 15, 2025- Full Day
- Camp Session Dates & Hours
- Camp Work: as assigned Monday June 23 to Friday Aug 29 (excluding June 30 and holidays)
- Monday to Friday 8:15am to 4:15pm
- Mandatory Orientation Meeting First day of each Week 7:30am-8:15am
