Miller is a leader in waste management and diversion, providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the province of Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Manitoba. Miller has over 50 years' experience in the waste management sector, and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. We are looking for a highly capable Manager, Marketing & Communications to join our team, based in Markham, ON.
Summary:
The Manager, Marketing & Communications will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of the marketing, branding and communications program for Miller Waste Systems. They will conduct ongoing analysis, quality assurance, and training to ensure adherence to MWS branding and strategic direction. Coordinating and developing all marketing materials including social media, and internal and external communications, they will provide public relations expertise for all external initiatives and provide senior leadership advice regarding communication strategies, events, and community outreach.
Responsibilities:
- Provide corporate oversight of marketing and social media programs, setting strategy and KPI's.
- Establish and implement all marketing, branding, social media, and communications policies.
- Ensure compliance with any internal or regulatory requirements for communications.
- Explore and forecast new / emerging marketing and social media platforms and monitor trends.
- Managing and maintaining integrity of MWS brand, brand audits, and brand updates as needed.
- Ensuring the consistency of marketing and branding materials through MWS.
- Draft communications for MWS and for the President and executive team as needed.
- Prepare and support initiatives for employee town halls and President Messages including recording and ensuring any sound or technical equipment is set-up.
- Developing and executing strategic marketing plans to achieve corporate objectives for products and services
- Developing and delivering short- and long-term marketing programs to achieve objectives regarding revenue, profitability and market share.
- Planning and implementing MWS advertising and promotional activities including print, electronic media, trade shows, direct mail, and signage.
- Developing, recommending and implementing the marketing capital and operating budgets; monitoring and taking corrective action as appropriate to ensure the achievement of marketing objectives is within designated budgets.
- Analyzing marketing programs and adjusting strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness and meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Preparing marketing activity reports for management; including, but not limited to, post-event reports and regular status reports on marketing programs, marketing trends, environmental scans, customer behaviour and service satisfaction.
- Providing technical advice and consultative support in all areas relating to the promotion and long-term viability of products and services as well as competitor promotion strategies.
- Managing the development, production and distribution of strategic, client-centered marketing, sales, and communication materials.
- Demonstrating impact in the community by developing and sharing success stories and client and employee profiles and working with community partners to promote the support MWS provides to local organizations.
- Developing and implementing a strategy to build and manage relationships with key stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing a communications plan.
- Keeping up-to-date on best practices and the latest trends in social media and online marketing.
- When required, liaison with 3rd party marketing firms.
- Support for additional web development, CRM integration.
- Interface with MWS Sales team to create customer contact programs, improve sales programs and materials, and provide post program reporting.
- Collaborate with People & Culture to create and execute a compelling recruitment brand strategy that attracts top talent.
- Collaborate with People & Culture on engaging recruitment brand campaigns across various platforms to highlight the MWS culture, values, and opportunities.
- Create and maintain style guides for internal L&D training programs to standardize the look and feel of all training materials.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree Marketing, or Communications, or related field preferred.
- 5-7 years' recent experience in a similar role initiative Marketing, Communications, and Branding Strategies.
- Experience in photography, and videography, an asset.
- Passion for marketing and remaining current on industry trends.
- Intermediate skills in utilizing tools in areas such as for Email Marketing, Analytics Tools, SMM, CMS, CRM.
- Enthusiastic, team-oriented, and motivated to achieve goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to drive, establish and maintain positive relationships.
- Demonstrates strong business acumen, organizations skills, and resourcefulness.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Valid driver's licence with the flexibility to travel, as required.
- Demonstrates a commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Flexibility is also required as this position occasionally requires travel, early starts, late finishes and on rare occasions weekend work. This is an in-office role, but occasional remote work is acceptable when approved.
