ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about creating engaging internal communications that inspire and connect teams? The University of Sydney Union (USU) is looking for a skilled Internal Communications Advisor to enhance our approach to internal communication.

In this key role, you'll manage our internal communication channels, craft engaging content, and collaborate with stakeholders to keep our teams informed, engaged, and connected. If you have a talent for storytelling and a proactive approach, this role could be perfect for you!

We provide a wide range of services, events, and programs for students, including over 200 student clubs, major festivals, leadership opportunities, and more. As a not-for-profit, all our income is reinvested into the university community, making us a cornerstone of student life at the University of Sydney.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Collaborate with departments to understand communication needs and execute impactful internal communication plans.
  • Manage and improve internal channels such as the staff intranet, email systems, and newsletters.
  • Create engaging content for emails, newsletters, intranet updates, and other materials that support USU's goals and values.
  • Support internal campaigns and initiatives, driving employee engagement and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Gather and analyse employee feedback to continually improve communication strategies.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all internal communications and support crisis communication efforts when needed.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, with proven ability to implement organisation-wide internal communications.
  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills, with attention to detail and a creative mindset.
  • Proficiency with communication tools, including Microsoft Office, intranet platforms, and email marketing tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage teams at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a Permanent Part Time position, 28 hours per week.
