PAA ADVISORY | CONSEILS IS HIRING A Communications Advisor level consultant to help our clients navigate the evolving online news and social media landscapes.

As we expand our practice, we are looking for a dynamic Communications Advisor to join our team in Toronto. This role will involve supporting our Communications Advisors, Client Directors and Managing Directors in delivering impactful communications strategies for our clients.

We seek a motivated Communications Advisor with 3-5 years of relevant experience in media, corporate communications, or consulting or an equivalent combination of experience and relevant studies in corporate communications from a recognized educational institution.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to provide strategic communications support and insights for both internal and external communications initiatives.
• Monitor news and media stories for clients in real-time, identifying stories and messaging trends relevant to client issues.
• Conduct research to identify appropriate media options and develop media contact lists.
• Draft a variety of communications materials, including news releases, backgrounders, key messages, speaking notes, and presentations for diverse audiences.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media personnel, including reporters, producers, and editors, and actively pitch stories to them on behalf of clients.
• Support media outreach/pitching on behalf of clients including phone calls.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in media, corporate communications, or consulting, or a comparable combination of experience and education.
• Strong understanding of the Canadian communications landscape, particularly in Toronto and other major English-speaking media markets.
• Proficiency in various social media platforms and online media monitoring tools is preferred.
• Personal interest in Canadian news and the political landscapes in Canada.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present effectively and create compelling content. Ability to speak and/or write in French is an asset but not required.
• Strong analytical skills to synthesize information for communication purposes.
• Proactive approach to media outreach and relationship-building.
• A willingness to reach out to media and individual reporters to pitch stories on behalf of clients.
