Job Purpose
The Communications and Digital Marketing Officer will play an integral role in supporting the school’s communications strategy, involving all LCC constituents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications Support
- Participate in the development and implementation of communications strategies
- Participate in the maintenance of the school’s website and portals
- Assist in editing and writing content for the website, news items, blogs, e-notifications, press releases, the school magazine, and a variety of publications
- Manage content for digital signage
- Coordinate and produce the school’s weekly newsletter for parents (mailbag)
- Liaise with students to provide communications support for student-led activities
- Participate in the production of the school’s bi-annual magazine
- Promote the school’s podcasts and school events
- Manage the calendar of communications-relevant activities
- Support volunteer committees (e.g., parents’ association, alumni association, advancement committee) and fundraising activities
- Provide support to the videographer for the school’s video production
Digital Marketing
- Plan, manage and develop content on a daily basis for the school’s social media channels to maintain and build its social media presence, and initiate new and creative growth
- Research and develop strategic social media and Google campaigns for school initiatives
(e.g., student recruitment, fundraising, alumni outreach)
- Track, measure and report on outcomes related to social media campaigns
- Monitor, listen and respond, as appropriate, to users in a “social” way
- Monitor social media activities of other independent schools and partner organizations
- Research developments and implement best practices in online marketing and communications to support the LCC communication strategy
- Manage the annual marketing calendar (including print, online, paid search)
- Support the advancement team in developing and implementing a social media strategy
- Work collaboratively with the athletics department to support maintenance of athletics social media channels
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, administration, or any other field relevant to the position
- 2 to 5 years of related experience
- In-depth knowledge of traditional marketing, digital marketing and social media, including major platforms such as Meta (Instagram and Facebook), LinkedIn, Google ads and search, and search engine optimization
- An expertise in building, monitoring and measuring digital marketing campaigns, and using analytics to make data-driven decisions
- Ability to stay up-to-date with the ever-evolving social media landscape
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
- An understanding of the unique communication needs of independent schools, and sensitivity to school culture
- Experience with a content management system (CMS)
- Ability to create engaging content and leverage storytelling to resonate with diverse target audiences
- Strong English writing and editing skills to craft engaging news and magazine articles, and compelling social media posts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to accept feedback and work well under pressure
- Sound judgement
- Fluency in English and French (written and verbal)
