About Makers
At Shop Makers, we're redefining retail by offering a curated experience of the finest locally crafted, handmade goods. With 23 locations across BC, Alberta, and Ontario, and plans to expand to 30+, we are proud to be Canada's largest retailer of handmade products.
Our mission is simple yet bold: empower local artisans by giving them a platform to grow. We believe in nurturing community, sustainability, and creativity, and that starts with our people.
Why This Role Matters
We're looking for a Marketing Coordinator who's equal parts organized and imaginative; someone who loves storytelling, thrives in a fast-paced creative environment, and is excited to roll up their sleeves on everything from social posts to store campaigns.
You'll work closely with our Marketing Director to bring the Makers brand to life across digital, retail, and community channels. This role offers room for creative autonomy, while still being highly collaborative. You'll have support, direction, and feedback, but also the trust to take ownership of projects, contribute ideas, and help shape how our brand shows up across Canada.
What you'll do
Day-to-Day:
- Coordinate and assist with content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok,
- Collect and curate UGC, in-store moments, and artisan stories for social and blog features.
- Support the execution of campaigns and giveaways - from brainstorming to publishing to reporting.
- Respond to community DMs and comments, engaging in our signature "Makers voice."
- Liaise with store managers and vendors for photography, product features, and event promotion.
- Support pop-ups, openings, and seasonal campaigns with marketing materials, signage, and event coordination.
- Maintain brand consistency across all visuals, copy, and channels.
Creative & Strategic Support:
- Assist in creating digital assets (social graphics, blog banners, signage) - bonus if you're skilled in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Help plan content calendars and campaign timelines in collaboration with marketing, retail, and operations teams.
- Track campaign and content performance, providing insights and reporting to the Marketing Director.
- Support blog writing, newsletters, and storytelling initiatives that spotlight our makers and community as needed.
Standard Marketing Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Coordinate cross-channel marketing initiatives, ensuring timelines and deliverables align with brand goals.
- Support influencer partnerships, PR seeding, and collaboration outreach.
- Keep marketing folders and drives organized with current assets, brand guidelines, and campaign materials.
Who you are
- A creative and curious thinker with a love for storytelling and local business.
- Organized, proactive, and dependable - you love bringing ideas to life but also know how to prioritize and execute.
- Collaborative by nature. You work well in a team, take feedback, and bring positive energy to brainstorming sessions.
- You value teamwork and communication as much as autonomy.
- Comfortable with social media management tools, have a good eye, and are confident with design work (Canva, Adobe, or similar).
- Bonus: experience in retail, small business marketing, or artisan brands.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 1+ year experience in social media marketing or relevant experience/industry
